Explains what it promises
First: it's a beautiful book, I love having it on my desk, congratulations to the designers. It's a simple, direct book that covers different stamping techniques and has a project for all of these but also is perfect if just want to learn the skills and create your own projects. The pictures are full of light so it gives you inspiration and courage to start your own projects without even caring if they are going to turn out a (or make some) mess. Also it gives you detailed lists of the (not much) material you need, which is a thing I love. This is the only book I have about priting by hand and I feel that I won't need another one soon, so that's why I give it 5 stars. It gives you the information it promises, along with being a very beautiful book with a clean cosy design.

Food to feed your enthusiasm
I'm new to this subject but had a 'fancy' to give it a try and bought this book on a whim - and so glad that I did. From page 1 to the end it's a joy to read. Lena Corwin has written with love and simplicity. Even at the end there's the surprise of a wallet of designs, which are depicted throughout the book. Just need to get materials now, on which I can spend as little or as much as I like - this book has projects for all budgets.

A great purchase - I recommend
A great book for the first time, or rusty artist. She makes it seem simple and achievable, while pointing to the materials you needs - some of which I didn't realise we're available. The stencils included are a real bonus.

Excellent book!
This is an extremely useful guide for anyone new to printmaking, and for those with some experience, like myself. I bought it mainly for the chapter on screenprinting but have found it useful in other areas too. Instructions are simple, photographs both helpful and beautiful, and it's even got a hidden spiral bound, which is a practical touch.

Lovely book, greatly recommended
i loved this book. I am a beginner at hand printing, and found this easy to follow. I give it 5 stars although I wish there were some UK sites offered which sell the tools needed. Nevertheless, I definitely recommend it. Plus you get free templates of the illustrations shown, at the back of this book. LOVE it.

Ideas for how to use printing to make your own household textiles
This book contains lovely pictures and step-by-step instructions for how to make household items such as tablecloths, napkins, bags. It also has some useful ideas, such as the use of "contact paper" (= sticky-backed paper) for making stencils. It wasn't what I was looking for.The book is really about how to make items using prints and stamps, often depending on commercial services to produce the stamp or screen for printing. For example: "Give the artwork supplied at the back of the book for this project (or your own artwork) to a stamp maker, and have the stamp mounted on an acrylic mount." (page 35)The emphasis is on the printing process, and rather less on making the stamp or print block. The focus is on projects, rather than techniques for printing. This is not a criticism. It just didn't match what I was looking for.All the projects are for printing on textiles, not paper.I have subsequently bought "Relief Printing, a manual of techniques" by Colin Walkin. This is a much more technical guide on how to make printing blocks. It contains more detailed instructions on how to create designs and shapes by various techniques (mono-print, relief prints, lino cuts etc), and so was more what I was looking for.

Great projects
Great projects to learn Handmade Printing. Great to begin with.I think is little bit more advanced level than Print Workshop book. I feel that the projects are for more grown up audience than the other book.I'm unsure of the resistance of the binding of the book itself.

Uma referencia de tecnicas e truques
Livro bem pratico. Aprendi muitas coisas!

Printing on fabric? Great book
Of all the books I have seen so far (many), in the realm of DIY printing on paper and fabric in your own home, this one stands out as the most accessible. I make relief prints on linen with linocut and carved rubber blocks, primarily. The projects outlined in the book are simple and attractive. Each project takes you from #1 "Prepare work surface" to " the final step: "Clean up." In between there are many innovative tips for printing at home without expensive equipment. The comparison charts included in the book are also extremely helpful. There is one for Choosing Inks and Paints for the various surfaces you are printing. Very helpful since inks vary wildly and produce very different results! There is another chart for choosing which print method is best for your project (stamp printing, stencil, screen printing, etc.) And another chart showing colors. This all sounds simplistic but the charts can save you a ton of experimenting and mistakes and expense in inks (believe me, I know.) Even if you are well-practiced in printing techniques, you will find the text and photos user-friendly and comprehensive. An envelope attached to back inside cover of book includes a bonus: paper design templates for all the printing projects in the book. I create my own images, but the templates are good to have to understand scale and/or incorporate into your own work. And the best part of this book? It is spiral bound. Have you ever struggled with trying to refer to a DIY book while immersed in a project?? The spiral binding allows the pages to lie flat and loose and easily turned (even with inky hands), as you follow the steps for your printing project.I think we tend to gravitate towards books where the author's design-sense corresponds to our own, in some way. That is the case with Lena Corwin's book, for me. However, I think most would find her designs and projects entirely appealing and enjoyable.
