Works Amazingly!
Easy to assemble and to use. Saved me from having to replace my gaming chair as I couldn’t remove the lift cylinder and wheeled base without it. I tried everything like WD-40, PB Blaster and a hammer with no luck. 5 mins later after installing this tool to the lift cylinder, it was removed .

Good but...
Generally good product that eventually (after a few hours) was successful in removing the gas cylinder from my office chair, but I had to do some improvising. Because I had a shorter gas cylinder on my chair, there was not enough room to get the enclosed Allen wrench on the end of the long screws included with the kit. I had to use the shorter screws to begin with, a set of vice grips, and repeatedly moving the clamps in order to be successful. This could have been avoided if the manufacturer had included a second set of screws that were medium length.

This tool is awesome!
My 11-year-old Steelcase Leap V2 chair’s gas cylinder finally gave up. After ordering a replacement, I initially tried removing the old cylinder using the pipe wrench method. My smaller wrench didn’t work, so I bought a larger 24" pipe wrench—but that didn’t work either. I even used my floor jack’s pry handle over the wrench’s threaded section to get more leverage, but still couldn’t get the cylinder out. This tool was a last-ditch effort. When it arrived from Amazon, the packaging had a small amount of surface rust on a few of the screws. A bit of WD-40 and a paper towel took care of that easily. One of the threads didn’t look cleanly cut, and threading one of the tension screws felt a little too tight. I added a drop of silicone oil and carefully worked the screw in and out until it moved smoothly.Once prepped, installing the tool onto the chair was straightforward. The unthreaded collar goes against the seat base and stays loose to allow tension buildup. The threaded collar sits below it, and tightening it applies upward force to separate the seat base from the cylinder. The process was quick and easy. I gradually applied about a quarter turn to each tension screw until the seat base popped off—no drama, nothing fell, and there was no splintering or damage to either the seat or the gas cylinder. I’m honestly impressed. If I had found this tool earlier, I could have saved myself $50 on monkey wrenches and a lot of frustration. This is definitely a tool I’m keeping in case I ever need it again!

worked like a charm
Worked as advertised, just be sure to tighten the collar if you want to remove it from the chair, pretty simple to use, I think it's a lil over priced but considering Amazon's cut, and making a profit it's fine, it's in the price range of a brand new pipe wrench. No damage to the cylinder if you wanted to re-use it potentially. Used it to dislodge a broken gas cylinder from a used Embody chair I bought.

Absolutely works. Removed a stubborn cylinder with ease.
This thing is an absolute game changer. Gas lift was crapping out and it REFUSED to budge no katyer how much WD40 and banging and wrenching. The key thing, the collar that you tighten you need to ABSOLUTELY make it death grip that bar. You screw the two collar halves equally to attach it. The slipping ring will likley not close all the way together. Thats fine. The one that grips the bar, it wont either but thats the point. It gives you room to really wrench it down. Evenly screw together at first, then really tighten it HARD.The only minor issue I had was that I had no room to use the wrench on the bolts that you use to press against the base to lift the strut out. Thats fine. Have the gas strut fully extended, then rip that flimsy clip off on the bottom. The thicker casing comes off and you get plenty of room. Ya aint gonna save the busted lift anyways. Wear gloves, its greasy work. It took me under 5 mins to pop the gas lift loose.

Ready for the dope drip?!
After absolutely beating the hell out of this with a hammer/mallet for almost 2 hours I gave up. Went to the hardware store and even bought a pipe wrench. 0 luck. I was optimistic about this product because of the request returns. I’m 98% positive this is being returned because it’s working. This product I bought was a little small to fit around cylinder but after carefully tightening the bolts, success. Now I was into I setting the larger screws. I only used the one ring as I thought to myself if it’s pushing against the base, wouldn’t that work better? Effin Yahtzee!!! Don’t be a scumbag and return this product it works! DX Racer chair for larger people. I’m 6’6” 256lbs and first time changing the cylinder in almost 8 years. I’m the happiest person in at this immediate time 😂😂😂.

Cheap screws - poor quality - barely works
Consider this a single use tool, the screws are so cheap once you get them tight enough to grip the shaft so it doesn't slip when you try to pull the piston, the screw heads start to strip and you can't get them back out of the collar after the piston is out. You might be able to drill out the screws and replace with better ones but my advise is buy a different version.
