Work great… hope these last as long as the first set!
Bought the first set during lockdown to restore some order to the hair.Just replaced them, only because they got dropped one too many times and the screen died. Won’t adjust anymore.Never skipped a beat in 5 years of monthly use and never went dull.I haven’t had to visit a barber in years, and fingers crossed these last just as long. The first set paid for themselves ten times over.

Needs practice to get the angle right
Had a Phillips cutter with a 'swivel' head that was great when doing my usual 7 mm cut, but battery gave up the ghost after a few years and it became unusable as the power feeds the battery that then runs the motor. Unfortunately this had been discontinued and not replaced which is a real shame for me as a DIYer and there is nothing similar.I really didn't need all the cutting lengths with this 9000 pro but I like that it locks in. The lack of a swivel head means that to cut my own hair needs practice to hold the cutter at the correct angle particularly the back of my head. I'm guessing this is no different to any others but it took a few goes to get the knack to avoid having an un-intended mohican on the back of my head! I'm now happy with it.The inability to change out the battery ultimately means this becomes disposable, as the battery needs to be serviceable even when plugged in. Battery power, in my opinion, is essential in the UK due to the regs banning sockets in bathrooms. In this age of recycling it is not clever/green, but no different from others and cynically keeps the manufacturers in business.Oh, as some of the other reviews mention, with this being one of the more expensive in the range, the lack of a case/bag to pack it away is particularly 'tight' of Phillips given some of the other less expensive versions have something. So in summary, it's a compromise for me which I have got comfortable with after some trial and error. I'm sure the battery will eventually go and I'll have to chuck it away. Hope that's not too soon. Consider whether you need the bells and whistles and could do with something to put it in and save a few ££££ on the way.

Upgraded from 5000 to 9000... Worth it?
I've been using a 5000 series for a couple of years, over all the 5000 is a great trimmer but I found myself accidentally changing lengths as I change grip during cuts which wasn't ideal.Anyway, decided to re-do my bathroom, out with the old in with new... and I splashed out on the 9000 series.Mechanically, seems much the same as the 5000 which was slightly disappointing at first, not sure what I was expecting at the 5000 cut perfectly well - but once charged, soon I came to really enjoy the digital interface on the 9000, just knowing the battery level was nice compared to times past where the the light just starts flashing red mid-cut.The Memory setting is pretty crucial, I found myself able to tap the memory setting and do the sides / top & even went over my beard just fine.Note: To set memory (when turned off) select the desired length, hold the M until the 1 flashes on the right hand side, then release & hold M again for about 5 seconds and the screen with say "SET" when stored... just tap the M to switch to 1>2>3, and hold the button again to store it.And discovering the cutter Locks the length when you power it on was great, no longer will I accidentally shift up/down lengths by mistake."Auto-Turbo" concerned me slightly, as generally I've found with all my philips cutters I turn it on and hit the turbo button - that's just how it is! but the automatic really doesn't need much/any noticeable resistance before the Turbo function kicks in and it leaves it running for a few seconds, much to my surprise it was pretty seamless.Overall - The cut is great, ergonomically it worked just fine never felt uncomfortable, love that it locks the length, memory settings are great for bouncing between lengths & no longer will I think to myself do I usually do this a 8 or a 10.. it's simply what I stored. So, I'm glad I went 9000 series and short of a huge price jump - it's just what I'll buy in future.

If you have short hair 1-10mm DO NOT BUY, I did and regretted it!
Please read the low reviews, they are all correct!!I read them but thought I knew better, after just one use they are going straight back!If you have short hair, 1-10mm it is USELESS! I tried and tried following Philips tips to get evenly cut hair at about 5mm, it's impossible, I was cutting for at least 10-15 minutes thinking I had got everything, looked in the mirror and was genuinely shocked as to how much was completely missed! The problem seems to be the well reported issue of the comb constantly clogging with your own hair and NOT clearing as the "Trim-n-Flow" suggests, you end up going over hair several times and hearing it cut, but it's not cutting the hair on your head, its cutting the clogged hair in the comb meaning you are constantly stopping to remove and clear the comb!If you plan on buying this to cut your own hair DONT as again, it's virtually impossible! The unit is just far too long, and you end up hitting your shoulder and upper back trying reach those tricky to reach areas, it’s also very easy to drop and hold when trying to go around your ears.I'm used to a 5 min cut with my 17-year-old Philips QC5170 180-degree swivel which are a breeze to use in comparison, why on earth have they stopped making a similar model?Overall, this is the most disappointing product I have EVER had from Philips.

I had high hopes for these
Unfortunately, these didn't live up to the reviews of 5 stars. They can glitch, and the auto adjustment can get stuck. I sent one back already and got a replacement. This is now also starting to breakdown. I would look elsewhere.

Great trimmer
This thing is great, so much better than the clunky wired one which it replaced. So convenient to just give the old barnet a trim. Decent battery life and easy to dial in to the required lengths.
