that are better quality than previous reviews would suggest (probably an older ...
I read many reviews on this product and also saw it advertised in various guises and prices before plumping for this one.I couldn't get the roofbox that I wanted on time so in the end took a chance on this one at £26.00 delivered. Be aware that it is also advertised by some sellers at £50-£75), but seems to be the same bag.In the end this arrived and worked extremely well, the one that I got seemed to have some of the previous flaws fixed and was more than enough for our needs, taking 3 extremely large holdalls and several smaller bags with ease. The straps and buckles are well made and stitched to the top of the carrier, The bottom of the bag is very soft and didn't scratch our roof. The Carrier is water resistant (but not 100% water proof). It has two zips, that are better quality than previous reviews would suggest (probably an older version). In short if you are going on holiday and want to cheaply get there and back without an expensive roofbox then try this. Even if it only lasts 1 trip you will be quids in. (NOTE: Mine is still in one piece, no problems or rips and is back in the box ready for next holiday).I made some notes and tips below:1. The Carrier is very large and works best when full, no bits to flap about on the motorway.2. Carrier has 4 straps on the top of the bag, these are reasonably strong, however you will need additional straps to hold down the front of the Carrier at motorway speeds.3. I used 2 Bungees (£5 for a tub from Asda) and 2 of these (4 x HEAVY DUTY 5m x 25mm TIE DOWN STRAPS CAM BUCKLES CAR LUGGAGE CARGO TRAILER) from Amazon.4. Ensure that if you have stiff rails on the bottom of any of the luggage in the carrier that these are put at the front of the bag and placed at right angles to the first straps. (NOTE: on our first journey I placed a holdall widthways in the carrier before the first straps and the whole thing lifted up because the straps behind it created a hinge.5. You will need a stepladder or stout chair to load this carrier (we have a new Xtrail and I am nearly 6ft and it was still a stretch with a chair).6. You CANNOT load this carrier on the ground and then put it on the car. (unless it is full of feathers).7. You will need to be capable of lifting your bags over your head to get them safely onto the car roof and into the carrier.8. You CANNOT strap the Carrier down until it is loaded, at least partially. (So watch out in high winds).9. Load the carrier from the front then put on the straps to secure.10. Use even pressure on straps and go round the straps in a circle tightening as evenly as you can. (don't go nuts or they will damage the bag).11. The Carrier is waterproofed, but not 100% of water is stopped, This is fairly standard for fabric with waterproof lining in my experience but still provided a good degree of protection for our luggage. If you need 100% then put your luggage in bin bags before loading.I hope that this helps you, I saved over £150 on getting roof bars and a semi solid roofbox. Also it folded back into its little box so no storage issues.Happy trails.

Full road test to the alps and back
Ok, first things first - don't be put off by the price! This item performs far better than the price tag suggests.Negatives are you can't really fill it in situ so you need muscle to get it onto the roof. Also the zips are too flimsy (heavy duty please), the webbing straps should be continuous over the top of the bag so as not to stress the material, the zips also need another pair of runners so you can easily open each side at the front so as to optimise the fill, and it's bloody noisy if you don't get it filled right (see point above).Positives - it's a fantastic piece of removable kit that stood up top 1500 miles on top of my xc90 with around 9 hours of that in a torrential downpour with me driving at 80 mph most of the time, and with 2 hours standing in the rain before we left. The inside of the bag as still pretty much dry (I did use waterproof liners as well, but needn't have done so. The best bit was being able to totally remove it from the car once we had arrived thus no need to drive around with a fuel guzzling carbuncle strapped to the top of your car. Easy to attach (but do tie down the strap-ends as they could work loose) and remove and folds to nothing. This is not a piece of kit that can outperform a Thule for regular use, but for occasional trips (once a year holidays, etc), save your cash and buy one, just don't overload your car roof!If the manufacturer can improve it as I have suggested it would be a cracking piece of kit that would be more usable for regular trips as opposed to occasional ones.Great buy and cost less than the roof bars alone (also cost only 25% of the cost of hiring a box for 2 weeks!) so can't complain one bit.

Ripped on first try BUT...
Ripped on first try BUT I think it might have been a faulty one though as I have a relative with the same bag who had no issues (hence the buying) we used theirs as ours broke on route out for a camping trip and found it worked well, plenty if space to put everything. I was uneasy about using a bag that broke so easily but it did the trick.Definitely need to put on ratchet straps or something similar to secure it properly to the car if you have no roof racks!

A great concept and it did the job, but so poorly made - what a shame
I love the concept, if only it were well made! I just needed some extra space for camping trips 3-4 times a year. This seemed perfect for the sleeping bags, air beds, towels and clothes that take up so much room in the boot. In the end it took the tent as well as my new small estate car was not as wide as my old Golf and I couldn't even get the tent in! Oops. To give credit where due, this is huge, and cheap and did the job, carting all our soft camping stuff from Northampton to Caridgan Bay and back, and I never once had a worry while it was on the top. Unfortunately the zip is awful. One side did not work, and the other side is very temperemental so we thought it would do not do up at all for the return journey. It did in the end but it was a worry. The sellers have said I can return it for a refund so all good on that front but it's just such a shame as it could be brilliant. £25 for 480 litres - you'd probably pay 20 times that for the same capapcity roof box. I hope someone produces the same product but with a decent zip and some grab handles handles underneath to help you lift it (we struggled to lift it once our kit was in). I would happily pay a lot more for that.

Great item. Bought it for our holiday in Scotland
Great item. Bought it for our holiday in Scotland! My husband drove on the motorway up to 85mph and the bag was absolutely fine. He did however bought some extra straps and a small padlock from Halfords just because he is a careful person and gave him that peace of mind. However the bag is sturdy and has loads of room and cannot wait to use it again on our holiday to France. Really frees the car and cannot believe we didn't think to buy one sooner.Easy to store as well. Very pleased and will highly recommend this product.Quick delivery too.
