Simple and good
Have used this for years in the kitchen. Quick easy and effective. Doesn’t eat up drawer space. Rotate rods to get refreshed surface, then flip to other end and repeats till spent.

I bought one of this sharpeners like 8 years ago here in Amazon after reading about this sharpener in other sharpeners reviews. I'm obsessed with sharp knives. I cook a lot and I want my knives to work. To be honest when I saw this I thought that there was no way this ugly contraption could be as good as any of the close to 8 sharpeners I have at home. After 8 years of constant use I have to say that it works better than any of the ones I have. This is easy to use, it does what its supposed to do really well and when it comes to value for the money, this is an outstanding value.. What this is not is a high precision sharpening tool. For that you will need much more expensive tools. Also it is not the tool you will use to sharpen things like garden tools or even kitchen knives that are in bad shape like what will happen to a knife after cutting frozen meat with thick bones. For that you use a sharpening stone and then you use this. This tool is for general cooking use - what we use our knives for in most cases and it works incredibly well. If you have a cheap set of kitchen knives or one of the high density metal knives like the German or Japanese sets, even Damask steel, this is what you want to use. There is one thing I like about this that is worth mentioning and it has to be related to the design. When you are sharpening a knife and you are holding it as instructed, you can feel when the knife becomes sharp. It feels like the handle "amplifies" the feeling of the imperfection of the metal that a dull blade has. I just can't get that from any of the sharpeners I have. Over-sharpening can be damaging . This matters because you know exactly when to stop. The other thing that this sharpener does is that it will never scratch your blades because the sharpening rods are just too small. I have ruined many expensive knives sharpening them and with this sharpener that is almost impossible to do. If you have an expensive set this is what you want to use. Now if you are looking for very precise sharpening, this is not it, but I promise, for what this costs there is no better sharpener. By the way, I've read many people saying that after some time the rods loose the ability to sharpen, if this is happening you are definitely applying too much pressure and even if you do, you can rotate the rods. Go to the manufacturer's website, the instructions are there. That said I have used mine to sharpen many things, not always following instructions and my rods are still like new

Best sharpener ever
I bought this sharpener at a gun show in New York 35 years ago. I finally wore it out so I bought it again on Amazon. Both sharpeners are identical and I use them to sharpen my swords. I can cut a tree in half with one swipe of my katana best sharpener ever.

Good all around sharpening tool
Sharpener worked well on a fillet. Wished the company offered the sharpening rods separately.

Simple to use and very effective steel
While this is listed as a "sharpener" and it does make a knife sharper, it does it in the same way a "butchers steel" does. I personally prefer using a traditional steel with a single long rod, but it takes more skill. So my favorite feature of this fellow is that everyone in the kitchen can use it - before or after a cutting job. This means the knives stay sharper longer! I would recommend this be a companion to a tool that removes metal - a carbide or ceramic thing to draw the knife through or a diamond or natural stone. By using a steel like this it means the metal removing operation happens a lot less - and so the knife lasts longer, and is sharper more often.

Works really well…especially on thinner blades
This works really well! I have a set of knives with relatively thin blades, and this tool seems perfect for them. Easy and fast to use with great results.

Better than expected
I really didn't expect much from this but it works really well to sharpen my knives. There are two sides that each side sharpens differently. Even while sharpening I'm not so sure that is doing anything but then the cut proves that the sharpener has done it's job.
