All in all, I am pretty happy I bought this easel. Super quick and easy to put together by myself. All of the hardware, as well as the instruction booklet, were in the drawer and labeled really well. The center slider is held in place by a bracket and tension screws, and if you are someone that re-adjusts a lot that could wear out in time I suppose. As someone that will probably set the tray at one height and leave it there forever, I figure if the tension starts to fail in the future I can always screw it in place. It is wood after all. Oh, the maximum tray height is approx 38.5" (from the bottom of a canvas to the ground). Which is not bad, imo. Keep in mind that the canvas will mostly be supported by the central slider rod when the tray is at the maximum height though. So expect that very little of the H frame area will be supporting the canvas then. If you are someone who likes to get a bit more energetic and enthusiastic with their paint application this easel may not be quite sturdy enough. But for someone like me, looking to do a more calm and relaxed dip and dab sort of painting, this easel should work out just fine I think.
