Buy Mental Arithmetic Book 1: KS2 Maths, Year 3, Ages 7-8 New edition by Schofield & Sims, J W Adams, R P Beaumont, E Spavin, L Spavin, T R Goddard (ISBN: 9780721707990) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Highly recommended - Well researched book and it really improved my child's arithmetics performance. Review: Great series of simple non-gimmick maths books - I use this series as part of our maths curriculum with my home-educated son. The book is very clear and easy to use. There is plenty of work for him to do so he doesn't use the book up too quickly. I also find some maths books suddenly jump levels and get a lot harder, whereas this series is very good at getting progressively slightly harder so that students progress slowly and steadily. Each page has three different tests - all mental arithmetic but a slightly different emphasis eg. the third test is slightly more wordy with problem solving type questions. It is an excellent curriculum with no gimmicks.

Very helpful useful revision for child in year 3. Considering a lot of session was missed during lockdown.

Great maths book from a high quality publisher
I bought this to help my son improve his mental arithmetic. It starts out fairly easily and gradually gets harder. We have only tried one page so far but my son enjoyed filling it in. It has mixed problems on each page in the form of a test per page. After 10 tests there is a progress test. With 3 sections and 4 progress tests throughout the book. There is alot if content for the money so good value.

Better than other maths books we have used
I have been using this book with my just turned 6 year old, and it is great at posing questions in a way which really requires a child to think about what is being asked of them, rather than basic addition, subtraction etc. It teaches them to extrapolate from the question only the key information, rather than to get bogged down in the words. My daughter finds some questions challenging, but she is only in Year 1, so to be expected. I will be purchasing another copy for my 4 year old son as I think it’s fantastic.

love them!!
simply love these books !! they are set out well with no pictures or bright colours to distract for the task ahead, my little boy age 6 loves all of his schofield and sims workbooks and actually asks if he can sit and work through them. His confidence in answering questions has grown and it's lovely to see that he's enjoying the extra work at home. would highly recommend these books to anyone.
