After replacing fob shell i cant use the key to start my car, why is that?

There is a chip in the flip end of the key fob it looks like an oblong pice of carbon remove from olde fob and fit to new fob

Will this work right away?

Well, with us, no it didn't! My husband had to file the 'key' part so it actually sprung out when you press the button. It was a fiddle to do this but it works okay now. Not very robust in that the car opening button is getting quite dished and worn. Wouldn't get another one.

I fixed the old chip and metal key end into new shell. I can unlock car with fob buttons without having to reprogramme, key itself wont start car

You may have left the transponder in the old key its a smal rectangular piece of plastic about 5mmx3mm your car won't start without this chip
