Will its loop fit a backpack belt?

There is no loop, but a metal spring clip which will fit a 1 1/2 inch belt. The maximum size bottle is about 2 1/2 inches, maybe a little more since the straps are elastic, but it would be tight. I really like mine. it's very convenient & lightweight

I'm wanting to use this product to hold a can of corn for fishing. Will a normal can of corn fit in the opening?

Good question, yes a regular can will fit. It is a snug fit, but it works. Hope you catch a lot of fish.

Will this hold a standard Nalgene 1 quart bottle?

It will hold up to about 3" diameter containers. Most Nalgene quart containers are 3.5" to 4". The top elastic band may be able to stretch, but I suspect it will not fully seat.

Would this clip work on the outside of a purse?

It should work if you can clip it onto a strap or pocket on the purse. The bottle holder has a pinch type spring clip that clips to my belt on pants or workout shorts waist band. I have found that for my use the best bottle sizes are small-8oz or medium-16oz.
