Stops my cat escaping
Installed quite easily. The amount of opening is just enough to let a breeze come through, but not wide enough for my cat to get her head out of. It’s sturdy, my dog has jumped at the window and it hasn’t broke. I’m pleased with it. Good value for the money.

Childproofing Made Tricky But Worthwhile
Child safety is a top priority for my family, and when I stumbled upon the UPVC Window Restrictor Hook, I knew it was time for a comprehensive review. It's one of those products that comes with a challenge but rewards you with peace of mind.Tricky Installation (3/5):Let's start with the not-so-great part - the installation. Fitting this restrictor hook to the underside of a window is like a high-stakes game of "Don't Drop the Screwdriver." You need the dexterity of a surgeon and the patience of a saint. One false move, and you might find your screwdriver or the catch itself making an unexpected descent to the garden below. But hey, it's a minor inconvenience for what's to come.Effortless Functionality (5/5):Once you conquer the tricky installation, you're in for a treat. The UPVC Window Restrictor Hook is like a ninja guardian for your child's safety. It effortlessly works its magic, allowing your window to open only a few inches - enough for ventilation but not enough for a toddler escape artist to stage a breakout. The mechanism is simple and reliable, and it's a true game-changer for peace of mind.Guardian Angel for Parents (5/5):The peace of mind it provides is priceless. Knowing that our 4-year-old can't venture too far out of his window is a game-changer. It's like having a guardian angel for parents, giving us the freedom to let our child have a bit of independence while staying safe.Final Thoughts:In conclusion, the UPVC Window Restrictor Hook might give you a headache during installation, but once it's in place, it's pure genius. The peace of mind it offers in keeping our child safe in his room is worth every fumbled screwdriver drop. It's a must-have for any parent looking to strike the right balance between exploration and safety. A tricky start with a smooth finish - it's an investment in your child's well-being that no parent should skip.

Window opening restrictors - great.
I have used these on our windows, to stop our cats from getting out of the windows. My husband fitted them and said they were reasonably easy to fit. They don't get in the way of the window closing, don't change the look of the window, but do the job they are there for, restrict the opening of the window, but you can still open it the full capacity by just unclipping the restrictor from the pin. Great item.

Good solid material
Make sure you check whether it’s a left or right opening & suggest get a prof to get as I couldn’t fit it despite this looking identical to the one I took off. Ended up buying a self adhesive fixing to the front of the window.

Great little locks
Bought these to fit to upstairs windows to a rental property.Fairly easy to fit, some of them needed some packing to ensure they were the correct height so the lock actually catches - this could depend on the type of windows too.

Work Really Well, Slightly Fiddly to Fit
As noted by others, these don't come with instructions - for the most part I didn't mind that as it's quite obvious how they work, but with the exception that no guidance was given as to whether to fit the arm to the casement (the "window") or the frame, however if you look at the images for the left hand product (the HS4318) it does show to fit the arm to the casement, which I definitely agree with as it makes it less fiddly to open the catch, note that I saw another reviewer advised fitting it the other way round, which I think would make it tricky to open.Generally all went fine with installing these, I had seen another reviewer had managed to fit them without a ladder (on a second floor window) - I personally wouldn't advise this! It's quite tricky and I think it will make it more difficult, I used a ladder and it was still a bit fiddly. As noted in one of the images, I had to put a small bit of a plastic in order to move the arm down a bit as it was contacting the pin at the top bit (the part like a mushroom) and wasn't closing well, I just used a bit of plastic trunking to do this, and I fitted it to the casement part purely because it makes it less visible.A good bit of advice would be to do a dummy run on a downstairs window because then it's less stressful to figure out all the alignment. If you have some double-sided sticky tape to temporarily mount the arm and pin that would be great as it would let you test closing it too.I did have a bit of an issue getting the bases of the pins to sit in the window frame - you'll notice that one of the images I've uploaded shows the base of the pin to have some slight damage - this is from having to use a screwdriver and a bit of hammering to get it in, and you might also notice a (admittedly very tiny) amount of deflection in the plastic frame, this is because the base of the pin was ever so slightly too large for the euro groove in the frame, and as such it got deflected a bit. Also of note is that the screws - one set (I can't remember if it was the left or right handed one) came with brass screws, whereas the other came with nickel screws, which I thought was a bit rubbish! I ended up using the brass screws for the arms fitted to the casement, as you can't see them, and used the nickel ones for the pins which you do see.All in all I do really like - a very very tidy way to child-proof your windows, and I don't think the installation was excessively fiddly (I think some fiddling is to be expected), but I'll mark down a star due to the screws and lack of instructions.
