BG Electrical WPL22RCD IP66 Brushed Stainless Steel Outdoor Weatherproof Double RCD Socket

This is well-made and looks good too.

I selected this BG weatherproof socket from reviews and also from the appearance. It was easy to install. I was using the rear cable entry cutout, which is marked out for a 20mm hole. As I wanted to do the best job possible to ensure it was water tight I purchased an MK grommet, which had a weatherproof rating, and was designed to accept twin & earth cable. This coupled with putting a generous amount of silicone sealant in the marked out channel, between the two raised concentric circles surrounding the cut-out, should achieve a good watertight seal. It would have been nice if one of these grommets had been supplied. Luckily I tracked down this MK grommet which dis the job perfectly, and was easy to obtain from some DIY outlets - although it did have to be ordered in for next day collection. So far no water ingress. Could be worth running a bead of silicone between the top and sides of the box to make really sure water doesn't get in.

I bought this to replace a single outdoor socket but wanted a double. Price wise it was about £5 cheaper than the high street tool stores.Well made and very easy to install.I like the brushed chrome effect which gives it a luxury look rather than the plastic grey / black one I used to have.Once clipped closed it is very secure and waterproof and you need some force to open again which maybe an issue for some people. I use it to charge my hybrid car and the cable is thicker than a standard wire which makes it even harder otherwise would have given it 5 stars.

O bought this to replace a similar unit that had failed to work. This was considerably cheaper than a like-for-like replacement. I must say it was a straight swap-in-swap out for the debut unit but looked must smarter than the original.

This arrived quickly and in first inspection the quality is very good. Some people found the clips hard to open and close, but I found them easy and very 'positive'! I have yet to have it fitted by an electrician friend but I am very confident that is is value for money.

Good sturdy socket enclosure with the added protection of the RCD. Works well but the locking mechanism is hard to release when a thick cable is used. I use it to charge my EV and when the thick cable is plugged in and I lock the catches on the box I basically have to use my foot to unlock the catches. Apart from that it’s great but the locking mechanism needs to be looked at. Was dead easy to fit

Just finished building some decking and used these electric boxes for added enjoyment outside . Absolutely perfect , very pleased !
