Q: Do I need any adaptor to hook this to a Makita 18v random orbit sander?

It has a 2.5 inch hose. You will need an adaptor, or duct tape. You can attach the edger attachment and then duct tape that to the dust port on the grinder. Works great if you are only doing this once and a while, otherwise tape costs will quickly out weigh the adaptor.

Q: In the spec's it stated 80dB and on the advertisement it states less than or equal to 65 dB, which is it?

It has to be closer to 65 dB. It's so quiet compared to other shop vacs I've used and owned. It doesn't hurt my ears when it's on for a long period of time. I bought two and both can run at the same time in our 50'x50' space AND I can still talk to people in the same room without shouting. Hopefully this is helpful information to whomever is looking for a quiet and powerful shop vac.

Q: Is the upgraded hose worth the extra cost for this prroduct?

I thought so. Mostly because the cost of the upgraded hose was about $50, if purchased separately and I paid less than that with this package. I also wanted the hose for my particular shop, if you don’t, you can save some money. This package also came with more collection bags than other packages. Aside from the hose question , this is an awesome vacuum! I am still surprised by its super quiet operation.

Q: Is the hose that comes with this model an upgrade to what comes with dxv12p-qt?

it is a stronger crush resistant hose. works well and is similar to the upgraded Ridgid hose
