Great Fun for Kids, but Be Prepared for Battery Needs
I purchased the ArmoGear Laser Tag Guns - Set of 4 Rechargeable Kids Toys with Vests for Christmas, aiming to provide an engaging activity for my children and their friends. The set has been a hit; the kids thoroughly enjoy the immersive laser tag experience it offers. However, I was surprised to discover that the set requires a significant number of batteries, which was not clearly stated in the product description. Each gun and vest requires 3 AAA batteries, totaling 24 AAA batteries for the entire set. For the price point, I expected either included batteries or a more transparent disclosure of this requirement.Despite this oversight, the product delivers on fun and entertainment. The guns and vests are well-designed, and the gameplay is engaging for kids aged 8 and up. If you’re considering this purchase, I recommend factoring in the additional cost and effort of acquiring multiple AAA batteries to ensure uninterrupted playtime.Overall, while the battery situation was an unexpected inconvenience, the joy and excitement this laser tag set has brought to my children make it a worthwhile purchase.

Kids loved it, great customer service
When I ordered this the expected delivery date was after Christmas, which wasn't a huge issue as it wasn't going to be a gift. I was hoping that it would arrive before Christmas so the grandkids could play on Christmas Day.It arrived on the 24th, very pleased.I put all the devices on the charger and the kids had a great time. A couple of days after one of the guns said "low battery" I put it on the charger a couple of times but it wouldn't charge. Contacted ArmoGear via email, they responded quickly. After a couple of emails a replacement was shipped that day, and arrived 2 days later.Very pleased with customer service. The guns are decent quality as are the chest pieces/targets. Using the silencer tubes in close quarters helps game play and makes it a bit more challenging.Putting the devices in the charger I found to be a bit tricky. The instructions were fair. Well written and easily understandable, but not complete enough. At least for someone who's never played laser tag. For instance they say that the red light will glow when charging and turn green when charging in complete. On the charger I got the red light flashed when charging so I wasn't sure if they were charging or that was a fault indicator (it indicates they're charging). There's a reload level under the guns, which the instructions indicate, but not how to reload. Do you pull it down, push it up, or in, or what. You push it up the fraction of an inch it moves to reload. Experienced laser taggers might know this but novices might not.The guns and targets light up bright enough, makes lots of noise, so the kids LOVE them. It's easy to sync guns to targets and select teams. Selecting one of the 40 weapons offered is easy. These are two of the areas where the instructions are good. There are switches to turn a built in flashlight on and off and another that enables/disables the gun being a target. The instructions cover those well.It would be nice if the straps that hold the chest piece on were adjustable. They hang loose on younger or thinner kids. Granted a simple safety pin would solve that issue. The build quality is decent but for the price I'd expect a bit higher. Quality is functional though. The guns and targets look good and the set has many nice features, like different weapons, flashlight and options for targets and teams. The customer service/support help increase the value. The grandkids loved them and I would recommend them and ArmoGear.

An actual review - Fun but features are misleading
We've used these for a bit now and while we've had fun you should know what you're actually getting. The a vest is not associated with a gun, just a color. I.e. if a vest gets shot it only registers on the vest itself not the gun of the vest wearer and vice versa. So health isn't tracked together and if your vest gets disabled you have to choose to stop shooting others because your gun isn't linked. The guns only have a front target that is partly recessed meaning you can only get hit from the front, this makes cheap tactics too easy and leads to hurt feelings because different approaches make someone "invincible" either on purpose or by accident. While there are multiple gun modes, everyone figured out pretty quickly that shotgun is by far the best. Machine gun doesn't do continual damage, it's basically the same as shotgun but with a long delay between shots. If you get close the gun's blast range is massive, which is where the "silencer" comes into play. The silencer narrows the spread of your guns fire drastically making it more practical for indoor fights but it also shuts off the guns lights making it difficult to select colors for teams or individual play... which wouldn't be a big deal except that two of our silencers are incredibly difficult to get off after you put them on. Our workaround is to shoot the player repeatedly (when you die your gun's color flashes a few times so you know what color you are set to). Not ideal but it works better than trying to get knives or picks to get the silencer off and select your color. All in all it's not a terrible product and from looking at what else is available I imagine you're going to get a similar experience. But if I had known that the vest and guns don't link together, and that the silencer makes it difficult to select your gun color because you can't see it, and the gun only has a recessed front target, and that one of the gun modes is clearly superior to the others... I might have picked something else. We've had fun but I don't expect this will get used a lot more as the novelty wears off.One the bright side, the charging dock works well and is pretty slick (just make sure the vest tabs are out to the sides or up so that you can slide the vests into their dock slots). The sound effects and colors are nice and bright (when not using the silencers). We've only played indoors so I can't comment on the outdoor play experience, range, accuracy, etc. But indoor with the silencers they seem pretty good.Fun, but a lot of imperfections prevent it from being quite what it seems to advertise.
