Many challenging puzzles to keep you busy a long time

I have purchased the annual update of Mega Crossword Puzzle Books plus one of the older editions every year starting about ten years ago for my crossword-loving husband who does at least one and often two of these every day. The updates are great because they include recent news and cultural events, as well as new celebrities. Doing crosswords on a daily basis is a great way to stay informed of current events as well as being a refresher course in history. It's a great way to stay intellectually vital! My husband enjoys the majority of these puzzles. They are not super easy. As you progress through the book, the puzzles become more difficult. The topics are wide-ranging and most have themes rather than straight hard-fills. Each page is perforated for easy removal from the book, making it easier to work. Answers to the puzzles are included at the back of the book (no cheating!). The pages are good quality and if you dare use an ink pen, it will not bleed through to the other side of the page. These books are a must-have for any crossword aficionado who wants to have crosswords readily available beyond the ones provided in newspapers and online. The Simon & Shuster Mega Crossword Puzzle books have 300 puzzles included in every edition. Usually enough to last one year or even longer.

The puzzles start off medium easy then get harder the longer you go through the book. Some of the puzzlemakers use definations that I never heard of before which make those puzzles difficult. As the books are made in United Kingdom some of the answers are words they would use, not Americans. I buy at least one of thse books once a year as they are fun to do.

The puzzles in this edition are more current with clues relating to contemporary events, people, films, some are amusing, etc. A few of the clues are head-scratchers, and some of the solutions make no sense. In general, the puzzles are challenging but not brain-busters. If you have enjoyed this series, you will like #23.

I like puzzles which make you think. Also, the book is easy to hold and write in as you relax in a chair

I buy these for my Brother and my husband. They like that the pages can easily be torn out to do them individually.

Bought this for my mom, second purchase of the same book different edition and only complaint is that it says the pages are detachable but the second one i Bought they were not perforated.

I have been buying these books for year. Love them and I always take them on holidays.

My whole family enjoys doing crossword puzzles, but it's hard to find age appropriate and challenging puzzle books here. These are awesome.

I bought this puzzle to solve when I am finished solving the previous ones. I will review when I have completed solving the 300 puzzles.
