Connetix Rainbow Transport Pack: Fun, Educational, and Built to Last
The Scoop The Connetix Rainbow Transport Pack is a 50-piece magnetic tile set designed for creative vehicle building. It features various shapes and colours, promoting open-ended play and STEAM/STEM learning. What I Liked - Variety of Shapes and Colours: Offers a good range of shapes and colours for diverse creations. - Expandable System: Compatible with other Connetix sets and magnetic tile brands for even more building possibilities. - Durable and Safe: Made with non-toxic ABS plastic, ultrasonically sealed, and riveted for safety. - Unique Bevelled Design: Adds visual interest to the tiles. - The Instruction Book: This has plenty of designs to make up using Connetix tiles, although a larger number of tiles may be required for some of the designs. - Educational Value: Encourages creativity, imagination, and STEM concepts through play. The So-So's - Magnets Rattle and Shift Within Tiles: The magnets move slightly inside the tiles, although they are enclosed with rivets. - Rivets for Safety: While a great safety feature, the rivets create a slightly non-seamless look on the tile exteriors. Advertiser's Claims Examined - "50 PIECE PACK": Agreed. The pack includes the advertised number of pieces with various shapes and colours. - "STEAM LEARNING THROUGH PLAY": Agree. One of the highlights of the Connetix System is the educational aspects of the toy. - "PERFECT FOR VEHICLE ENTHUSIASTS": The car bases and wheels encourage vehicle creation, as advertised. - "THE ULTIMATE GIFT": The set is a good starting point or addition to an existing magnetic tile collection. - "ENHANCED SAFETY FEATURES": Agree. These tiles use non-toxic materials and riveted edges. My Overall Sentiment The Connetix Rainbow Transport Pack seems like a great choice for parents looking for a fun and educational toy. The variety of shapes and colours allows for creative vehicle building, while the magnetic tiles promote open-ended play and learning. The expandable system and focus on safety make it a toy that can grow with your child. While the magnets may shift slightly and the rivets are noticeable, these aspects seem like worthwhile trade-offs for a safe and durable product - Marvellous!

An investment
This is a fantastic kit for kids. There are endless options for what you can make. Each component sticks together magnetically although some don't stick so easily (north pole/south pole). It can take a bit of getting used to and it is fiddly at times. Each piece is very well made, a colourful and translucent part which is sealed and very unlikely to get damaged. Kids, or adults, can just keep sticking them together to see where it takes them. The kit is made from connetix components, so won't easily fall apart, once together. A lot of fun for all, although this does come at a price. A high price, making this more of an investment, like Lego.

fun alternative to other building brick systems
I wasn't familiar with the Connetix range before seeing this kit but I am glad we have found it now. Essentially it is a modular building system of plastic tiles in different shapes and colours, with inbuilt magnets to allow them to connect. This pack enables you to make a few different types of vehicle - of course the child can use their imagination to build different tops but the bases dictate the essentials of size and layout. There is probably an optimum age for this; while they are marked as suitable for 3-year-olds, but I think they would require a lot of help/input/ from an adult or much older child to get really engaged with this. The magnetic connectors require a basic understanding to make them work and sometimes the pieces need to be manipulated carefully - more suitable I would think for children over 5 or 6 years, and a dextrous 10 year old would probably get the most out of this. The magnets and the geometric shapes give a lot of opportunity for practising science and maths concepts, without it feeling like homework. Of course there is also a strong art/craft/design creative component, so building the set is great for combining abstract ideas and the need to use maths and science to make them in reality. The pieces seem sturdy, though the temptation to play at ram-raiding with the built vehicles may be testing this out. The kit includes enough pieces to keep one child happy for hours, but if you wanted to make the most of the activity you might want to buy extra sets for more tiles. That is the one downside I would observe - these kits are really quite expensive, more so if you need to buy two or more to make the play satisfying. I think it would be worth the outlay if it captures your child's imagination and if you have the time to spend with them, developing the science and maths learning opportunities.

Excellent quality.
My grandkids have a couple of Connetix magnetic tile sets and we've never been disappointed, so I am really happy to add the Connetix Rainbow Transport Pack to their ever expanding toy cupboard I have here for them for when they visit. The set comes beautifully presented in a study, high quality, double skinned cardboard box. The set contains: 1x Train 2 x Car Bases 3 x Equilateral triangles 3 x Right angle triangles 2 x Isosceles triangles 15 x Door pieces 4 x Small square pieces 2 x Window pieces 18 x Rectangles. The tiles are very high quality and the colours are bright and vibrant. The tiles stick together through magnetism, so no having to push hard to connect tiles together. There are no sharp edges and no end of different structures than can be built. Also included in the box is an inspiration booklet that contains some ideas on how the tiles can be used, not only for this Rainbow Transport Pack but for other Connetix packs too. The magnetic tile sets are perfect for encouraging creativity and imagination, and this one with the train and car bases they particularly like and really enjoy playing with it. My four and seven year old grandkids are extremely happy and satisfied, as am I, grandma.

Build a Train or Combine Other Connetix Sets
This is a transport pack of Connetix pieces and comes in a variety of shapes with train and trucks in rainbow colours. I like the colours of the Connetix items, they are so bright. This pack is a 50 piece set it's box is super sturdy, and the right size so that everything fits well so that the pieces won't slide around. In the box you get: 1 x Train/Truck 2 x Car Bases 3 x Equilateral triangles 3 x Right angle triangles 2 x Isosceles triangles 15 x Door pieces 4 x Small square pieces 2 x Window pieces 18 x Rectangles As with all Connetix pieces, the quality is excellent, the connective magnets are strong which helps your building with Connetix, whether just using this set or by combining it with other sets. As with all things practice makes perfect, and you will need to practice to perfect building with Connetix, but that ia what makes it enjoyable; plus it exercises your mind too. This will be time well spent with your children and a fun exercise for you all. This set is designed to allow you to build transport structures and has enough pieces for rail or transport enthusiasts to be able to make something good from the set.

Premium magnetic tiles, fuels creativity and fun to play with
My daughters love these magnetic tiles - they're chunky, easy to grip and brightly coloured. And when two edges get into close proximity, they snap together! The magnetic attraction allows you to stack the pieces several tiles high, connecting on the long or short edge to make stable structures. In this set, you have the main "train" platform with six wheels, and two smaller carriages with four wheels. And plenty of tiles to construct carriages with windows or little buildings, which you can then roll around on the train. Helpful to know: - Tiles are premium quality and compatible with the Magna-tiles products - There are two to three magnets on each side of the tiles meaning strong and stable connections between linked tiles. My daughters loved playing with this set - it's a quality, premium product that fuels creativity, and is a toy that kids can play with multiple times without getting bored.

Well made, but expensive, and not as fun as lego
All of the individual components from this set pack down into a fairly small box for storage. The cardboard box it comes in should be thick and strong enough to retain for this purpose. The box is surprisingly heavy for its size. Inside the box, there are 50 pieces, which hold together with strong concealed magnets, so there’s no risk of children swallowing them. There are numerous magnets along all edges, which are held suspended inside each plastic tile. Included in the set is one long wheelbase, in shiny black, and two short wheelbases, which are identical and transparent. The wheels move smoothly along, and there are even tow hitches and loops that allow you to make a long vehicle with the three wheelbases hitched together, or you can make smaller vehicles. An inspiration book is included, which is quite substantial and comprehensive. It has full colour photographs on each page, and shows how you might use some of the tiles to make shapes and patterns, rather than just vehicles. This makes the set suitable for any sex to use, whether or not they like the vehicle aspect of the toy. These are very well-made pieces, which should provide hours of fun for both kids and adults. They do seem very expensive for what they are though, costing more than £1 for each individual piece. I don't think they are quite as fun and sturdy as Lego. Sometimes it's difficult to make and hold the shape you want, as the magnets can repel against each other, forcing your build out of shape. Even so, I'm sure many people would still enjoy playing around with different configurations.
