What can I say?
It's the guitar tab book for one of the best Megadeth ablums, no flaws. Brand-spanking-new and at a great price considering it's age.

Great fun album for guitar.
This book was important in my technical development as a guitarist. Before it I had got all of the Metallica tab books and could play everthing from them, and I knew that Rust In Peace would give me something much more difficult to progress onto. I think that I was about 14 or 15 when I got the Rust In Peace tab book, and for the next couple of years it was the one that I played from by far the most out of those that I had. The Marty solos definitely stretched my ability and made me progress as a lead/soloing guitarist, but the rhythm and verse sections also must have made the other aspects of my playing improve as well. This was a great stepping stone in my playing and would be followed by Yngwie's tab books, (and most recently the books of Vai). It's a very good transcription of the Rust In Peace album. (One of the only parts that I remember I was disappointed with though is one lead section on Five Magics, which has been pretty carelessly transcribed, loosing the subtlety of Friedman's playing.) Playing the rhythm on songs like Rust in Peace/Polaris and Take No Prisoner's is still great fun, and I also enjoy sometimes going through and playing some of the lead parts, (though I think Mustaine is a little too keen on just doing a repeated pentatonic string bend whist picking, and things like that, so his solos aren't usually very interesting, but Friendman is great). If you like Megadeth and you have been playing the guitar for a couple of years, you'll want to get this tab book. You might not be able to tackle all of the lead sections until you've been playing for maybe four years though, (I think I had been playing for about five years when I got the book).

Mistakes aplenty
As others have pointed out, the tab often bears little relation to the music stave. For example, here in bar 2 it's telling you to play a harmonic at the 7th fret of the A string which would produce the note E, whereas it should be an A according to the notation (5th fret)! There's a similar mistake just 3 notes later where if you followed the tab then you'd play an A instead of a D.Thankfully the music seems correct as far as I can tell, it's just a shame the author has copied and pasted their mistakes throughout each song and that nobody at Hal Leonard has seen fit to correct it in the 24 years since this book was first published.Still, I'd have had trouble figuring all these riffs out on my own and I can at least read the music instead of the tab to work out my own fingerings, so I'll give it 3 stars.

Great for Megadeth fans, and people who love this album
I own this book, and I have to say that it's pretty decent. Not all of the tabs are that accurate as Dave would probably point out. But they are decently close and so far it has played a decent part in forming my Rhythm playing. The solos are quite hard too, you may want to milk everything you can from the rhythm sections, and brush up on shredding and sweeping techniques before tackling solos like "Holy Wars... The Punishment Due", "Tornado of Souls", or "Hangar 18"I'd advise this to anyone who wants to get even closer to the album, but use this as a guideline.

Some tab issues.....
There are perhaps some issues with the tab notation in this book. Some of the solos have tab arrangements that make them very difficult to play. If you know your notes on the guitar, or can read standard notation, you can swap these positions around and try to find something easier than would mean playing in a less cramped position higher up the fretboard in some cases. Inaccurate tab seems to be a problem with some early 90s tab books. If you do get stuck, you can always refer back to Youtube or get help from some of the tab sites online and see how other people have notated the songs. Overall, this book is very, very good.

Great but not perfect tab transcriptions
I think the tab was converted from the sheet music through compute rather than someone actually playing. If you can read sheet music or are okay with figuring out better positions and ways of playing some patterns then worth buying, if not you can get some pretty accurate and better tabbed versions online.
