Broken tray, decent ice
I have some mixed feelings about the overall product, considering Joseph Joseph got me used to perfect quality. Both ice trays I ordered arrived with damage. The structural integrity of the tray seems to be a bit weak around the edges, and unfortunately, this resulted in some parts of the tray being broken upon arrival. I suspect the packaging might be a big part of the problem, as it didn't adequately protect the edge during transit, leaving everything exposed to potential damage. On a positive note, the ice tray performs its basic function well enough. The quicksnap system makes releasing ice cubes relatively easy. While it's a decent product, the fact that it comes at a premium price makes the damaged delivery a disappointment. Considering Joseph Joseph's reputation, I expected better quality control to ensure undamaged arrivals.

Doesn't deliver on promise of easy-release for me. Not worth the price tag!
This is a sturdy product. It won't break like some of the cheaper, more basic ice-cube-trays. However, it's not exactly easy-release for me. If you fill it up too high, the water (or whatever else you're freezing) sticks to the lid, making it really difficult to pull off. If you fill it up too low, the quick release levers underneath don't work properly. The only way I can get anything out of this is by using the levers in the opposite direction to that stated on the tray, sometimes having to lever in both directions. It is easier if you let the ice cubes melt slightly before trying to remove from the tray but then if you don't plan on using the whole tray, you're compromising food safety. I intended using this for baby food as well but don't want to take the risk. I bought a silicon ice cube tray after spending a lot of money on this one and it's much better!

Spill Free Ice Cubes
We were being fed up with normal ice cube moulds spilling before the water had frozen causing a build up of ice in the freezer. This overcomes the issue perfectly, albeit at a price. The cubes are also easy to remove.

Works great, will help but serious concerns over value and double pack price
The, almost, perfect compromise between the classic plastic ice cube tray and the softer alternatives.Let's start with why not perfect?Firstly; the size. This is probably my fault but the size of this tray is a lot larger than I had expected. This has not affected the ratingSecondly; I'm not 100% convinced that the design is durable enough to withstand water expanding in certain places; however we've had no negative experience with this yet so this has not affected the rating.Lastly; the price. We're paying for the name her, then the design and materials second. This is 20 times the price of what it replaces. This is what loses it a star. It's a good product but for the price it's just ok to me.Maybe when I've had them some months then I'll update this review. If they're still all in working order then I'd possibly raise back up to 4 stars for value durability over time. That's all the negativity out of the way, aside from this it's a very neat idea, and seems to work well. If you have tried to use rubber trays to be able to get the ice out and, like me, you end up spilling the water out on the floor, yourself and inside the freezer and have trouble getting ice cubes from plastic trays without smashing them about: this is the best of both worlds.I bought a double pack; in retrospect this was a mistake but it made me realise that the could have included some smaller variant(s) instead of one of the large ones (I know they don't exist to include now but after finding out the size I can't believe that they haven't thought of making them)If you have a big freezer, have difficulty with ice and don't mind spending the premium for the name: get these. They're not going to let you down, and if you use a lot of ice then they're going to make your life a lot easier in the long run. The double pack letting you refill one as you use the other.Consider this a 3.5 ; for the cost I can't justify a 4 until I see them last a long time and get to use them in the peak of summer, but is 3 too harsh over value concerns? Why (at time of writing) does the double pack cost 3 times the price of a single blue variant?Design: 5Usability: 5Value: 1.5
