Does what it says on the tin !
Really goid product, literally does what it says on the tin.Used to restore an old storage crate which had been riddled by woodworm.Part of the wood was almost like paper where you could squish it by hand. This has hardened the wood to the point where it is now stable and no longer disintegrating. It has left a slight sheen to the wood , rather than shiny and darkened it slightly but the darker colour may be because this wood had been left untreated for so long. The easy was was to treat the entire lights of wood so it all looks the same. But as the crate is an old apple crate using different types and thicknesses of wood it blends in quite well.Would rather have it the way it looks now than in danger of falling apart and worried about moving it.Don't get me wrong I wouldn't lift it up by the treated piece as I dont think it would bear the weight. But it has definitely stabilised and strengthened the wood to an almost miraculous level.Very happy with this product and would definitely use/ buy againFollow the instructions, wear gloves and clothes you dont mind getting soiled. And if possible work outside as a very strong smell. If workung inside iluse in a well ventilated area as it has a very strong smell ( similar to turps or paint thinners).

Does what it says
Great product to use with good durability. It dries very quickly and is easy to apply. The only negative is that it leaves a shiny finish.

Very good product
Amazing product. It works so well. Very easy to use. Be prepared to throw away your paint brush after. Not the cheapest of products but it is good quality.

Great solution for an old fence post
Great solution for an old fence post. The wood was rotten and crumbling, let it dry out, covered with hardener after it had dried out and it saved the post. It even slowed the screws down when putting next fence slats up how much more solid it makes it.

Did the job.
Worked very well on some dry rotted shed doors! It has a thick consistency, and I was worried it wouldn't soak into the wood, but it did and worked well!

Fab stuff…once you can open the tin to get at it!
I know this wood hardener is good as I have used products such as these before. However…beware of a very very difficult ‘childproof’ cap to open it! It’s not only childproof but impossible for a sixty year old, also almost defeated my son in law who is a fit strong man!!Yes, it tells you to push down hard then unscrew the top, all of which we tried. The cap then just clicked around and wouldn’t lift off.In desperation a wrench was used that lifted the white cap but left the inner metal seal in place inside. The seal was finally popped off with a screwdriver and came off like an exploding champagne cork, hitting the ceiling. WOW!!!Was the effort worth it?Yes, the product is good and worth the hassle in the end. It was easier than returning the can to Amazon which would have been even more hassle as I couldn’t have done the work today. It applies easily with a brush and soaks into the soft wood and, when dry, leaves it hard and able to be painted.Good stuff, shame about the can.

Poor packaging.
The product itself is great, but, as soon as this item was delivered I could smell a very strong chemical smell from the packaging. As I opened it, it was clear that the product had been leaking, although it had been sealed in film the chemical had seeped through, the smell was much stronger when the box was opened and and a lot went on my hands when I picked it out. This stuff is 'Harmful if inhaled Harmful with contact with the skin'

Yes, oh, yes!
The ability of this stuff to turn squishy, slimy, rotten wood into a rock-hard material is just extraordinary. It's saved me from from having to replace any amount of rotten wood around my house -- doors, window frames, flooring...If you haven't used it before, however, it's worth bearing in mind that what it leaves you with is not really 'wood' as we usually understand it: it's a kind of plastic composite. It will change the colour and texture of any wood that it comes into contact with, whether rotten or not. You'll have to be a bit careful, using it on wood that is highly visible. Expect to have to paint it, and expect that sanding it smooth will take some elbow-grease.I you apply this with a brush, you'll probably have to throw the brush away afterwards. I'm not sure what, if anything, can clean it off effectively. You don't want to get it on your skin and, of course, you really, really don't want it in your eyes. And it's not a filler: if the wood has been badly eroded by rot, you'll need to fill it afterwards, once the rot is gone. Also, it stinks. The Wickes brand is cheaper, and not as noxious; but the Rustins works better.
