older house, have air-condition vent on the ceiling. how do you cut and re instal those vents since PVC tile is not flat?

For a new build. Do you need drywall under the tile for the ceiling or can you attach it to the beams on the ceiling?

You need drywall to install it.

Will this melt if installed as a backsplash in the kitchen, including behind a standard N. American range?

We installed this product last year as a drop in ceiling tile. I would NOT use in a kitchen as a backsplash. I believe it would melt and would be extremely difficult to clean.
