Simple inexpensive light meter. Get it.
A nice simple illuminance power meter. It works just fine. Put in batteries take the cover off point the light at it and you are good to go - but be very careful about the distance from it that you’re setting the light source as that really affects the readings I would say exponentially. But with that small caution in mind; this is a great little meter and it works perfectly fine for me.

Terrific value light meter for plants
The meter will measure lux and foot candles (FC) which is enough for a plant hobbyist like me who just needs a general idea of whether a particular area is getting enough light for a particular plant grown under full spectrum lights. You can spend a lot more money for meters that measure PAR and PPFD if you really need to get into the weeds and are using specific spectrums of lighting but for most plants grown under full spectrum lights you can find recommended lux and FC readings online. My plants are happy and thriving since I got this meter and adjusted some lighting and positioning to better suit them. Good value, will work for most hobbyists.

if you have LED grow lights read this review!!
i grow a lot of cactus in the late fall and winter when i'm done with cole crops for the farm. it gives me about 3-4 months to get them to acceptable size they can safely go into the greenhouse when it's time to start spring vegetable crops. i have a lot of different seedlings that need different lighting levels to prevent them from turning red from too high an intensity, while other seedlings that desire higher light levels will get etiolated in lighting that's lower than they like. not wanting to fork out 600 bucks for an lab certified PAR meter, i opted for this one based on it's very good price and mostly good reviews. i read all the reviews as well as asking Rufus about the ability of this meter to read LED lighting as i've had issues with other meters in the past when i was swapping over to LED on reef tanks. so i ordered this one and waited........ when it arrived i promptly put the included batteries in it and proceeded to test various lights around my germination room, in the grow room, in the grow tent as well as the greenhouse. i got acceptable results in the greenhouse with natural sunlight, as well as in the grow room with T5 fluorescent, but when i tried this meter on LED lighting, it simply gave crazy inaccurate readings. i tried several different brand name of LEDs of various wattage and simply could not get accurate readings. so i logged back on Amazon and started the return process. being it was a Saturday afternoon by the time i got the return started the UPS store was within minuets of closing for the weekend so it would have to wait..... later that night it really got to bugging me about it not reading LED lights so on a whim i went and got it out of the box and tried a new set of energizer lithium batteries in it and to my amazement, it started reading the LEDs!!! i put the included batteries back in and same issue as before, i assumed dead cell, but i checked them with a multimeter and a load tester and they all read good, i guess it just needed a bit more current/energy that the lithium's delivered that the dry cell AAAs that came with the unit couldn't. so i canceled the return and hopefully the additional meter i ordered.

Minimal
It works out if you know how to use it. Reads in lux or fc. No presets.

Nice light meter for grow light setup.
Very easy to work and effective to help with grow lights.

Good price but may not be suitable for all purposes
Inexpensive. However just a small deviation from the angle at which it's pointed toward the light source, the reading varies quite a bit. This may or may not be a problem depending on the purpose for which you use this meter.

Interesting Measurement Tool
Comparatively I don't have much to go off of, but I can say it's numbers fall in the ranges there supposed to be in any test I preformed so I'd imagine it's accurate. Also it's easy to use and for the price if anyone artificially grows anything it's kind of a must have and well worth the money.

total junk
Does not work. I tried with the shipped batteries and my own, no luck. It constantly reads 0 lux, except sometimes it will give a reading after the sensor is blocked and then drop back to zero. Dont buy.
