Open the boom gently, and disconnect the charging cable gently. It will last for years..
The best I have ever used, out of 10 other brands this one is the best. It doesn’t hurt your ear after an hour of use like all of the other brands do, and stays put in your ear, doesn’t fall out. I would not recommend it for running, or jogging, but any other activities in a persons daily routine, it stays right in your ear. I have my boom in my ear on an average of 12 to 16 hours a day. There is 6 hours of talk time which is great and last more like 8 hours of talk time. I will not go with another brand, that’s why I bought 2 so I could have a spare. Just have to be careful (gentle) opening the boom to turn it on and pulling it off of the charging cable. If you do that it will last 2 years or more. I broke one by flipping the boom open with one finger.

Not all bad, but physical design appears to be flawed
I purchased this as a replacement to my HX550, probably the best Bluetooth earpiece I've ever used. Mine has been solid for many years until a few days ago (speaker issue) so I found this as a possible replacement. I noted the number of negative reviews as a result of boom breakage but thought I'd give it a shot anyway. After receiving the Boom 2, it was pretty obvious to me why there are so many people breaking the booms off and I'm rather surprised Motorola hasn't figured it out yet, though maybe they aren't trying. The design flaw becomes evident with a side by side comparison with my HX550. I suspect most people are actually breaking these when the boom is folded or being folded, not when extended. On the HX550, the boom lays completely flat against the back of the unit when folded. With the Boom 2, the boom only makes contact with the body for less than 1/8" past the hinge point when folded with the remainder of the boom canted about 1/4" above the body at it's highest point. This coupled with a perceived slight increase in the thickness of the body without moving the boom hinge point to compensate causes the boom to stand well proud of the body, with the small contact area acting as a fulcrum. A bit of pressure on the end of the boom when folded closed (the boom now acting as a lever) focuses stress on the hinge and could easily cause the boom to crack at this location (where everyone's booms appear to be breaking based on other reviews here). Stick it in the pocket of your jeans and sit down a couple of times, it might just snap due to the compression. Even letting the boom snap closed repeatedly (how most people likely close it) would seem to have the potential to cause breakage at the hinge. See the included photo if the text above doesn't register, it will probably/hopefully make more sense. I also noted a few negative reviews due to breakage of the plastic bezel around the button on the face of the body. Again, in comparison with the HX550, it seems rather clear why this is happening. Without testing the plastic itself, I would say the bezel on the Boom 2 is made of cheaper and thinner plastic based on feel. As well, the amount of plastic between the hole for the button and the edge of the bezel is reduced. In my mind, these two factors could certainly lead to breakage if being a little rough plugging/unplugging the charging cable or dropping the item from height on a hard surface (tile/concrete floor). If you're a bit more like a "bull in a china shop" with things or use your earpiece in rough/harsh environments, this one might not be a good choice for you. Mine spends most of it's time on my desktop or the center console of my car when not in my ear, so I suspect it may fare better than others. YMMV. 04/03/2019 UPDATE: I've dropped this item from my original 4 star rating to a 1 star, I would have reduced it to none if possible. Since my initial review, I have used the Boom 2 only twice (been sitting on my desk otherwise) and I noticed just today that the bezel around the button is now cracked at three places - and at the exact same place other reviewer's photos are showing cracks as well. Swing and a miss for Motorola on this one, I think they've gone too far in "economizing" a previously solid design. Shame the HX550 isn't available anymore. Do yourself a favor and buy a different Bluetooth earpiece.

Always count on Motorola for quality.
Easy to use reversible Motorola BOOM ear piece. Wow it works great with such clear sound. It’s clean and the sound stays in your ear. The person next to you cannot hear the ball game being saturated into your ear or a simple conversation for business is not going to be interfered by your atmosphere noise. It’s very much the best gift I gave. We bought it based on brand and Motorola did not let us down.

Great headset, but not very durable
PROS : I really liked this headset. Great voice prompts, really good battery life, fantastic sound quality on both ends of the call. The ear hook was also very comfortable. Functionally, it's a great product, and I would recommend it, especially at this price. CONS: Not durable as advertised. One drop to the floor from 4-5 feet and it was toast. It didn't break open, it simply wouldn't power on after that. The flip open boom was a little awkward to use while wearing. The pop it made when opening was fairly loud while in my ear. An on/off switch would have been preferable.

Extra Ear Hooks Don't Fit This Model!
I bought this because it came with extra ear hooks (supposedly in different sizes...so I thought), as well as the car charger. Good deal, right? But, the hooks that come with it for interchanging, are NOT made for this boom! I called Motorola, but they couldn't send me the correct ones, either. All they could do is let Corporate know the mistake of adding the wrong ones in the box...they probably already knew this, but what difference does it make if it sells the package and get rid of the extra hooks that are laying around and obsolete. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the boom, but the one hook that comes attached to the earpiece is too small and hurts my ear...and I have "small" ears, trust me on that! So, because the boom works so well, I will suffer a tad on the discomfort until I find some universal ear hooks...hopefully. I've used the little "Pinna Auricle" attachment, but I'm afraid I'll lose the boom with it...they aren't as secure as others I've used, but even lost the earpiece on them, as well. Unfortunately I need the "ear hook". I'll submit a photo of the one that came attached to the boom, with it laid over the 'extra' hook, so you can see there's no way they can be put onto this earpiece...unless there's some mysterious trick to make them fit without breaking the entire system...I wouldn't suggest you try it, at any rate. I looked this up on YouTube, and noticed the ones that come with THIS boom 2+ are, definitely, made for another earpiece. In my photos, you will notice that the 'tiny' half moon shape at the end of the 'extra 2 hooks' are considerably smaller than the one that came attached to the Boom 2+ when it arrived. The one that came attached has a larger ring on it's end, in which that little round rubber part ( I took off and laid next to it) fits over the original hook perfectly. Also, the two extra hooks are identical in size and are not at all pliable. If you watch the youtube video I had found, you'll see these extra hooks that come with this Boom 2+ are made for a different model and fit between the speaker and the boom of the other model ( there's space for it). The Boom 2+ does NOT have such a space, as you can see in my photos! At any rate, Motorola, I wouldn't call this a Boom 2 Plus, anything, but the car charger (though that's nice to have, but what's the use if you can't wear the boom once charged!?! Fortunately, Amazon was very helpful!

We are replacing g the exact one we had purchased from Beat Buy. It is easy to use and set up. The battery lasts a long time. My hubby is a little hard of hearing and this Bluetooth device is clear with no outside noise. I ordered they Amazon on a Monday evening and had the package delivered at 10:30am on the Wednesday. You cannot beat that for service. 🎉🎉

I owned a Boom2+ when it first came out and it recently died so I purchased it again The Voice on this is not the same. Gives you 3 battery life responses. High medium low on battery life and no percentage is given. The noise cancellation appears to be better than the original believe it or not. Battery life is the same. Charging the Bluetooth seems to take 3-4 times longer. (The original is 30 mins.) comfort is the same. (Amazing) unfortunately the Bluetooth disconnects once in a while. Every now and then, people will sound like a robot and you’ll also sound far away to people. A quick reboot will fix that problem. The flip part of the Bluetooth seems to be very sensitive which will also trigger a reboot. I’ll probably keep this and just deal with the cons only because of the comfort level. It’s extremely comfortable.

I'm a Bluetooth power user. I'm on my. Bluetooth with Co workers at least 8to 10 hours a day. This unit is very good, battery life is great, sound is great and no one complains now that they have a hard time hearing me. Highly recommended.

This is my 2nd Motorola Bluetooth earpiece and this one is inferior to the 1st which lasted four years. The battery does not hold the charge like the 1st did. Part of the case above the charger outlet broke off a few weeks after receiving it. The ear hook is very uncomfortable. The sound and noise control is good. I sent a complaint via Amazon to Motorola a few months ago pertaining to the broken part but never received a response. Customer Service, what customer service??????

The sound quality is horrible and the software sounds like it is from 5 years ago. I go through 4 or 5 Boom bluetooth units a year loosing most of them at job sites or dropping them in water. I thought this might be the answer but it is a huge step back from the normal boom earpieces. The earhook on this unit was way too tight and was not comparable to the quality earhooks on previous models. Do yourself a favor and but a normal Boom earpiece and hope Motorola deleted this model.
