These adapters are for use of lightning cables. Lightning cables are basically obsolete for any new equipment and can only be used for dated equipment. As tgime goes by these adapters will become useless. These adapters should last as long as they needed.

If you're like me, you have dozens of lightning cables and now find that your phone uses USB-C. These adapters let you use your lightning cables to charge your iPhone 15. I tried them both to charge my iPhone 15 and my MacBook Air. Both charged at about 5 watts. Not very fast, but still usable. It did not work with the Apple Lightning-to-3.5mm headphone adapter, so you can't use it for audio equipment.

We are in a period of change for USB. I think lot of folks have many more cables than devices. I’ve been buying adapters, like these, and slowly putting the obsolete cables away. Unless you need a higher wattage cable it's cheaper to put a Lightening to USB C adapter on the old cable. Having these adapters in the car, truck, bedside drawer etc. They’ve helped tidy up on the way to an all USB C future.
