Great kettle
The media could not be loaded. So I had a basic Cousianart electric kettle that worked for about 5yrs and then started leaking form the bottom. When replacing it I really paid attention to reviews. This kettle had some of the better reviews and had some functions my old kettle did not have. After trying it out for while I gotta say it is a good replacement. It heats up rather rapidly and the temperature settings are nice. The base lights up with a color so even in the dark you tell what temp your water will heat too. There is a small filter at the pour spout which is nice from filtering tes leaves or lime scale. Cleaning it is too. The kettle, without water, is light weight and will beat when placed back on the base to ensure a proper seating on the base. Water heat up fast making this a time saver. The craftsmanship of the kettle has a very modern look to it so nice quality to hang out on your counter and not be an eye sore.

Practical, convenient, and affordable!!
I bought mine a year ago and it still works perfectly. Heats up quickly, not loud, auto shut off is great, the light works good, and tastes great too.

Great kettle -- I keep buying them
Third one of these we've had. First one -- and I'm not making this up -- a sleep walking house get put it on the stove. Even the smoke detector didn't wake her up.2nd one didn't really die, but the lid broke off after years of service. They work well, look cool -- heat water fast. What more can you want?

Worse than previous model in one key way
Overall, these electric kettles are great. They are inexpensive, heat fast, look great, and are fairly reliable. I had a previous model that lasted nearly 10 years before the sensor gave out suddenly. The one key difference is this - the previous Chefman electric kettle I had would automatically shut off after bringing the water to a boil despite the temperature not reaching 212F/100C. I live at 6,800 feet / 2,000m in Colorado, and water boils at around 204F degrees here. This model does not shut off when the water boils at a temp lower than the textbook boiling point of water at sea level. So whereas before, I could press the button and walk away, and come back in a few minutes ready to brew my tea, now I have to hang around.Furthermore, the old model had more choices for temperature settings (as low as 105F) and after I brewed my tea I could set it at a lower temp to keep it warm. This model only has settings for 175, 185, 195, 200, and 212F.

Lid is removeable!
My daughter asked for one of these for Christmas and I was unsure of which one to buy. I settled on this one because of the different temperature options that it has. I also like that fact that the lid comes completely off. All of the others that I found, the lid is permanently attached and cannot be removed even to clean it. She gets a lot of build up in her water and could be an issue in the future. She drinks all different types of loose leaf teas and her boyfriend like French press coffee. In the morning she starts it up on a lower heat for her tea then he sets it at a boil for his coffee. It is sleek and smooth. It has thick glass and all the parts that are plastic do not touch the water except for the spout when pouring water. It is PBA free. Heats up incredibly fast and the heat is always consistent for the temp that is selected. It is compact and looks great on a counter or coffee bar. I ended up buying one for myself and now I am wondering where this has been all my life. My mother in-law comes to visit and loves it too. I am going to order another one for her up coming birthday. So this will make the 3rd one I bought. I would not hesitate to buy this. It is a good quality electric kettle for a great price. Don't hesitate on buying this. You will not be disappointed.

Good use
This kettle hits up fast. The water gets very hot and the amount of water it holds is great. My brother uses it more than me. I may get him one for Christmas

Decent inexpensive kettle
I got this kettle to replace a much more expensive one that kept failing. I wanted on with the electronics in the kettle itself so that sensors etc. would not be affected by corrosion of the contacts on the bottom of the kettle to the base.I will have to say this kettle feels pretty cheap. As others have commented the infuser is held in by three little tabs and I'm sure they will break off in the future since they are subject to the stress of holding the infuser and the thermal stress in the kettle.Upon unboxing the instructions said to run a MAX load of water through the kettle for a complete boiling cycle. I did this and it worked perfectly. Now it was time for some tea.I have been bringing my tea to a boil and let this kettle run it's default cycle which is to boil and stop as soon as it reaches boiling. It foamed up and spilled a good deal of tea all over the counter. I was making several batches (I make up 4 gallon jugs each week) so I reduced the amount of water in the next one to prevent boil over. No such luck, although it did spill less tea.Third batch I'm down to 1/2 and the infuser is mostly above the water. Still boiled over. The last batch I'm getting close to the minimum level and it STILL boiled over.So for this weeks batch I decided to run the next lower cycle, which is to get it to 200 degrees F and shut down. This worked and I will continue to use it this way as I can put more water in it to further saturate the infuser.Plus: It heats fairly quickly. The controls are intuitive to use, and the ring of LEDs under the base of the glass pot change color to confirm your selection of heat cycle. The opening is large enough to easily get my large hands inside for cleaning. The only contacts in the bottom of the kettle to the base are for 110 volt connections.Minus: The kettle feels like it's price, kind of cheaply made. The base is so light I expect it to lift with the kettle. And I have mentioned the infuser.I don't know why it boiled over with the tea inside. I don't live at a high altitude, 900 feet, so that shouldn't be the cause. But if you can live with a 200 degree F cycle or lower this kettle should do the job and that's all I can ask of any appliance especially these days.
