I have just installed the GPS Dash Mount this evening, 8/23/19 after some testing to see where the best place on the dash might be. I like the feature allowing the mount to remain closed and low profile unless I am using the GPS to navigate. My vehicle is a 2013 Nissan Frontier King Cab S 2.5 L base unit. I have a smart phone but had rather use the Garmin Nuvi for navagation so this mount should be great. Only time will tell if it is suitable for the task at hand. The vehicle is garage kept so there should not be heat from the sun beating on the unit and causing the attachment surfaces from deterioating too soon. Replacement 3M attachment patches can be ordered via Amazon.com so that is a good deal. The GPS fits well and securely into the mount and that is excellent. I expect this unit to be dependable and useor a long time. The price was good and the strength of clamping/holding power are impressive. And the low profile presence is great for around town visibility. I think this was a great purchase and as of this moment, I recommend it for those using a GPS unit or smart phone navagation units for dash mounting.

In the past, I purchased some that do not stick well on the dashboard, but this one is great and it holds any size CarPlay or phone. It actually stays on the dashboard through all seasons, weather change.

The clam shell holds my GPS quite well, with one big problem. The dash board of our car slopes towards the windshield which causes the screen of the GPS to be tipped up towards the windshield. This cause an unacceptable amount of glare on the GPS screen. Even a flat dashboard would have this problem. I temporarily solved this problem by making a visor that fits into the clamshell and hangs over the front of the GPS. At some point, I'll pull the clamshell off, clean off the double sided tape and make an wedge for the clamshell to mount to my dash board. It will have to be enough so the the GPS screen points slightly downward when viewing from the drivers seat. It may be more trouble than it's worth, but I plan on making a wedge out of wood, once side flat to mount the clamshell, one side contoured to the shape of my dashboard and both attached with velcro strips rather than double sided tape.

I used Velcro to adhere the base to the dash carpet. No more suction caps falling off the windshield

I dont use gps devices but do use google maps. This holds my phone on my dash board in a spot that is doesnt obstruct my view.
