Remarkably small, faster than any other m.2 enclosure that I have
So far, I haven't had any problems with this enclosure. I've been testing it with a Seagate Firecuda 2TB NVMe SSD (2230) and, in most usage (transfers under 40GB), it doesn't get very hot. My use case is Carbon Copy Cloner to copy a 1TB Mac system disk. After an initial copy of 310GB, most copies are now around 5GB, with occasional copies around 30GB. 5GB clones usually complete in under 30 seconds (about 170MBps). In a pure speed test with Blackmagic Disk Speed Test, I get 900MBps write and 860MBps read. These are pretty respectable numbers, considering that the USB-C interface on this enclosure is spec'ed to run at 10Gbps (about 1000MBps). If you're doing a very large operation (copying a 200GB file, for example) the enclosure and the SSD will get very hot. It's imperative to use the included heat-transfer pads. In one very large operation (over 300GB) it was getting too hot (in my estimation). So at first I was pausing the operation every 10GB to let it cool a bit, but eventually wrapped it in a layer of moist paper towel sitting on an ice pack. It stayed cooler than room temp and completed the operation in record time without problems. I won't have a need to do anything like that for a long time, so I'm quite pleased with this enclosure for the moment. If I could improve anything, it would be to make it even smaller: Does it need the key ring opening for cooling? Could the 27.9mm dimension be made smaller? Otherwise, it's a solid, well-made enclosure. I'll update this review if I encounter any problems. The only other very small enclosures I've tried run at similar speed, but are a tiny bit larger in the long dimension (but a bit slimmer and narrower).

Great enclosure - dissipates heat well!
Overall: Good solid construction. Would happily buy again. Pros: + Feels durable + Easy to assemble and use + Power Indicator is a nice touch + Very small and portable + Good value for money + Handy strap to loop through body of enclosure + Came with small screwdriver (very thoughtful) + Extra screws provided (1 of each) + Fast speed vs. form factor for the M.2 NVMe you decide to install (this is only the case/enclosure). Cons: - Thermal pad is provided and is a bit hard to apply as it looked like mine came somewhat precut in squares. I assume that is to help size the pad correctly. However, this means that you likely will end up with clean cut breaks in the thermal compound over the memory controller of your M.2 NVMe. For those who are more particular, you may want to opt to purchase your own thermal pad Considerations: * As others have mentioned, if you are writing files for a long period, you will need to let the device cool for a few minutes before resuming your writing/copying (I was cloning a 500Gb drive). This behavior happens for all M.2 SSDs of this size and is not related to this product. * Using an infrared thermometer, the peak temps I reached after intense file copying was ~60.5C and moderate copying reached ~44C. I found the aluminum body does cool quickly, however it’s important to avoid touching the body for too long. Overall, great product and will happily purchase again.

Great little enclosure for 2230 NVMe drive! But runs hot!
This thing is awesome. The only thing I would improve on is possibly better cooling, 'cause it runs really hot, which might trigger thermal throttling of performance. But that's to be expected with such a small enclosure. I honestly don't know how better cooling would be accomplished without sacrificing the compact size of this unit. I'd rather keep the throttle to stay at this size. It only gets super hot when doing larger data read/write operations. I have installed whole OS (Windows 11) booting on a Steam Deck and it runs great. Runs just as fast as the built-in SSD.

Great little Case Fan can be Noisy
I have a few of their products and this one has a noisy fan but looks nice and works well

Great little enclosure for my spare drive.
Had a spare 256GB SSD after replacing the drive in my Surface Pro 9 and was looking for something to do with it. Got this on a whim and couldn't be happier. Happy enough to get a 2TB drive to put in this instead of the smaller drive that I had as a spare. Now I have a nice small portable SSD that holds a ton a data that fits anywhere and takes up almost no space in my bag or pocket. As almost everything these days has a USB-C port I don't need any extra cables or adapters to keep with this enclosure. USB-C plug is very solid and not wiggle. Only downsides I have has with this unit is that it will get hot with large data transfers and the magnetic top could stand to have a bit stronger magnets as they put the loop on it and it will not hold together and you will end up with a top cover and no drive if you use it to attach to anything. DO NOT USE IT THIS WAY unless you augment the magnetic cover with something like a small rubber band. I do not run speed tests as that shows only ideal transfers and not real world use cases but I have seen write speeds exceeding 550 mbps on some file transfers from other SSDs.

perfect size... if it kept working
Device is a nice size for a 2230 SSD. Unfortunately, the chipset keeps dropping off of my systems after a short period of read/writes. It's fine for a short period, but after about 5 minutes to write, the drive stops responding. I know it is the device enclosure chipset, as I have had zero issues from the SSD while in other enclosures. Also noticed: even though USB-C is supposed to be reversible, this device only seems to work one way. If reversed within the socket, it fails to read. I have a feeling that it's the internal USB-C connections only being on one side of the connector in order to save money. I'm unsure, as this is the only device enclosure from this company that I own. I would consider some other brand, if possible. I will not be buying again. If the manufacturer could step up with their support, that may be helpful. I hope that I only have a defective unit.

Compact and Functional M.2 Enclosure with Some Design Flaws
Does it work? Yes. Does it take some finagling to get the SSD seated correctly? Definitely. The design could’ve been improved for easier installation, as getting the SSD properly aligned can be a bit tricky. However, once it’s set up, the enclosure works flawlessly, delivering fast transfer speeds as advertised. Its compact, lightweight form factor makes it highly portable, perfect for travel or quick data transfers. That said, I’d be cautious using it as a long-term solution. The thermal management seems lacking—the included "thermal paste" doesn’t appear sufficient for effective heat dissipation. This could potentially lead to overheating issues, which might degrade SSD performance over time. While it handles short bursts of activity well, I wouldn’t rely on it for heavy, continuous use. Overall, it’s a convenient, functional enclosure that does its job, but with room for improvement in design and thermal handling. Great for temporary use or quick backups. While the operational temperatures of the JEYI 2230 M.2 enclosure are within the manufacturer's specified range, it's important to note that heat is a significant factor affecting the longevity of solid-state drives (SSDs). Elevated temperatures can weaken the tunnel oxide layer in SSDs, leading to an increase in bit errors and potentially reducing the drive's lifespan. Therefore, maintaining optimal temperatures is crucial to ensure the durability and reliability of your SSD.

Worked well, speed around 800 MB/s
Worked perfectly for my 256GB 2230 Nvme drive. Speed when connected to a USB-C port reached 900 MBps, so not the fastest one but did it job well. Installing the SSD is easy too.
