We bought this because it looked nice and fit under a window in our kitchen. It was OK for about 5 years and then one side of the pedal broke so the lid doesn't work anymore. I emailed Rotho to see if it could be repaired and they said it was not. They then said they would send whole replacement bin, but that never came. We moved house and put it in front of a window and the back has become discolored and looks like its melting now. We need to dispose of it and I would like to recycle it because it's all plastic, but nobody will take it. Can't really recommend something that is so poorly designed and had such a short life.

We bought this model about ten years ago when living in France, but recently the pedal mechanism broke beyond repair. So, being thoroughly satisfied with this model, we purchased an exact replacement - soooo happy!! JHW

I don't write too many product reviews, but this one is warranted. Eight years on: the bin looks great, and will probably outlive me by a long, long time. Yes, I know it's plastic, but yes, it does a dirty job.When making a decision, you never know exactly what that means at the time. Not only did I get a product that ticks all the boxes, but also a company of exceptional integrity. I had reason to get in touch, and after 8 years they were still interested, engaged and incredibly helpful. How could you go wrong?Five more stars.
