Excellent flavor that is much brighter and more intense than powdered stuff. It brings out the saltines of meats and has a unique flavor that can't really be imitated by other spices. These aren't bone dry, however, so grinding is impeded, leaving a lot of rock-like seeds mostly in tact. One trick that works well for a spice grinder is to add at least one other dry spice and blend them together for about three times longer than you normally would, or until you don't hear any more little snaps. This gives a very palatable, pebble free spice to use. As a random note, if you have access to dry ice or liquid nitrogen, these can be used to freeze the berries enough to allow a fine grind without other added spices.

All of the flavor had been washed off these. Not at all like the ones I forage!

Came in exactly as described on time, and in great condition. Sumac berries, or something that I keep around as an apothecary. They have many benefits, including antioxidant protection, anti-inflammatory properties, and support for blood sugar and cholesterol management. They are also traditionally used for digestive health and may aid in muscle pain relief. I would recommend everyone to have this in their apothecary cabinet..

I'm not sure how these companies get away with selling ziplock packaging that doesn't reseal, but here again its a problem. Not a huge deal you can seal it in your own but still they should provide a functional bag so as not to be wasteful. Anyway, the product is good. I like whole spices and sumac is not easy to find, tastes fresh to me....!
