Great product!
I thought this might be a bit cheap 'n' cheerful given the price, but it looks like a sturdy well designed bit of kit. Takes 2xAA batteries (included) and the green self-levelling laser guidelines are very clear and easy to see. Reasonably Lightweight (11g), it also comes with a mounting thread underneath to attach it to a tripod or it will sit on any surface larger than a few inches. Unit is waterproof, dustproof, shockproof, wear resistant and impact resistant. Overall, great value for money and a useful addition to my toolbox.

Easy to use, simple to set up, bright laser
I am building an extension onto my house (self build) and I was struggling with spirit levels and tapes to get heights and dimensions accurate. This laser is very low cost compared with others in the class, yet it is a really good tool. The laser is accurate, the self levelling system works well, and the laser itself is very bright, so much so that it is visible outdoors in full sun at at least 10m (that's as far as I have gone so far). The included mag mount is ideal for attaching it to steels. There are three laser settings - crossline (vertical and horizontal beams), and either horizontal or vertical only. The self levelling system can be locked to enable you to set an angle if you want to, and my only criticism would be the lack of a graduate rotating bubble to allow the user to set an angle directly on the device, rather than having to use an external means of getting the angle right. However, for what this costs, you can't beat it - well made, and does everything that most DIYers and many professionals would need.

Its not a bad piece of kit.
Bought this after reading reviews to wallpaper a very uneven room. (Floor slopes). Being me I couldn't live with it not being vertically straight. It moved with each step in the room but I managed to get the first piece on nice and straight. Then used the horizontal line to keep it level across the wall. Its worked wonders. It'll be used on picture rail and tiling next. People mention the battery case is weak and breaks easily, but this one doesn't seem it, so maybe its been updated.. 2 AA batteries come supplied, but these are cheap so won't last long. The green light is barley visible in strong sun light (coming in from the window). But general day time light you can still see it. Has a lock feature for transportation so the pendulum doesn't break and for manual leveling... All in all not bad for the money.

Huepar Box-1G, Great little unit.
I bought this unit recently to help me landscape my daughters garden, together with the recommended digital laser receiver - Huepar LR-6RG. I just needed a basic, simple to use laser level measuring device and this seemed to fit the bill. I was most impressed with its functionality and range, and price. The garden is 40m x 10m which this unit handled with ease, I was able to set out the depth of footings for a retaining wall and to level the 10x5m patio area perfectly. I compared it with a colleagues very expensive Dewalt unit and found the auto levelling accuracy to be within a millimetre or so at over 10m. Perfectly good enough for a garden ! The green laser light is very bright, perfect for indoors with large rooms, but for any outdoor use in bright sunshine I would always recommend to use the laser receiver. It just makes things so much easier too with its audible signal. The only criticism is that its a heavy user on batteries, so always keep a spare set handy. The first set lasted about a day with regular use as we dug out the footings with a mini digger. It would have been nice to have it turn itself off after say 15mins to conserve power.

Once you figure it out, it's great!
Initially I had a little trouble getting the batteries into it, the battery cover is super stiff to the point I thought I might be doing it wrong and had to stop and think a few times as I was worried I was going to break it. Probably best you read the instructions as turning it off is a challenge, it appears you have to have the slider on the front in a particular position to fix the laser before it will turn off. Once I got it up and running it was great. I had to put up a big mirror which had to fixings on the back that I dropped onto hooks and had to align perfectly, and also a wooden batten with coat hook. Once I drilled the first hole I used the laser to give me a straight line that I could measure across based on the measurements from the mirror and the wooden batten. It turned out perfectly, talk about saving some time! I never get those right! I did end up having to move the mirror up through as it was decided we had not put it in the best spot. I used the vertical laser to give me a straight line, measured up the required distance on both points, and it was again perfect. I wish I'd bought this years ago. The only issue I did have and it's not the lasers fault, is that I have a small tripod but it would not screw on, I believe the laser has a1/4 inch thread from what I read on the page, but mine appears to be larger, I see that I can buy adapters. However I also have a projector screen with a tripod that extends very high, to the ceiling, the pole on that is rather thin, so I tried the magnet bracket that comes with the laser, thinking it likely would not hold, but they have used really good quality, strong magnets so it had no trouble at all. You do have to generally getting it reasonably close to the height you need it out to get it to self level, so a tall tripod like this at least for me was a must. Again not the lasers fault, my house is on wooden floorboards and the slightest movement on there, and I mean like a mouse ran on it, walking up the step ladder and the laser will start to bounce and take a few seconds to settle, so that does make it more difficult to use when you are trying to mark things, but that's my house, not the lasers fault. I'm really glad I bought this and it's going to make my DIY far easier and accurate the first time I do a job from now on.
