Garden parasol holding base
Really good quality and value for money

Good
Arrived promptly. I thought it was a little flimsy at first, but didn't realise that you put water in the bottom to hold it down. 😅. This works well. Good buy all in all.

OK for the price
This base was recommended as 'often bought together', so I did. The pole dia is 22 mm and the base advertised as 18-32 mm. It reached as tight as possible, but the pole was still loose. It is acceptable as the pole is threaded through 2 holes on my patio table. It would be useless if the umbrella was free standing. I couldn't be bother to send it back for item less than a tenner!

Does what it’s supposed to.
I pondered for a long time over what base to buy, I didn’t want something expensive but I also didn’t want to waste money if it arrived and was useless and have to buy something else. Glad I chose this one. It’s adjustable and sturdy when weighed down. Fits our small parasol with narrow pole well (just need to turn to adjust the fit) There’s a hole in the base which is easy to put water in with a jug/watering can, we only half filled it and didn’t blow over in the wind (even on uneven ground). In good weather it still holds up the parasol even without putting anything in the base. Nice and light to carry around when not full. It might not be suitable for especially wide and heavy canvas parasols, perfect for our little parasol though. Glad I didn’t opt for a more expensive one!

Easy assembly
Just to advise everyone looking at this parasol base to ignore the reviews that complain about difficulty assembling or a lack of instructions. Honestly, if you need instructions to put these three pieces together, you need instructions to breathe. Pop the upright holder into the base and turn to lock. Unscrew the large plastic nut, slide it over the bottom end of your parasol (cut the links between the plastic lugs on the inside of the nut for large diameter parasol stems), insert through the holder and tighten the nut. Other than that, for a low-cost base it is heavy enough once filled and it does the job. One piece of advice would be not to push it over your patio slabs. Lift it up instead if you want to move it. The plastic is relatively soft and I can see it wearing through if the heavy base is frequently pushed around. Enjoy the sunshine.

Not as sturdy as my old base but manageable
Really well made base and looks very smart and very good value for money. However only 4 stars given as great care needs to be taken in order to avoid it toppling over in the wind taking the umbrella with it. All the bases made these days tend to be less broad and therefore not as stable as they used to be. The base was bought to replace an old existing base which was stable. I had problems to start with, with my new base toppling over but found that if I made sure that the base (which is filled with water) is filled right up to the brim and the umbrella height is adjusted to the minimum height, then it is very unlikely to topple over and remained stable for the duration. This is of course if you set this up in the garden without the umbrella running through a table. However when run through a table with the adjustments I have just mentioned, you are unlikely to encounter any problems.
