Great scale
This scale has worked very well for me over the years. It is accurate and the quality is great. It is nice because it holds a large amount of weight also. I wanted something that was affordable and easy to transport and this scale does all of that! I highly recommend this scale to anyone who is in the market for one!

Excellent Scale but NOT ideal for a Medline Hoyer Lift
I purchased this scale because I needed to track the weight of an invalid family member who cannot stand on a weighing scale. After reading many reviews of weighing scales on Amazon, I decided to purchase this scale because of its high customer ratings and mentions that some purchasers used it with a hoyer lift. Here's my experience...The scale is EXCELLENT and accurate to within 1/2 pound validated by my various empirical tests using known weights. However, the scale is NOT ideal for use with a Medline MDS88200D Hoyer Lift. Having studied engineering in college and having some mechanical aptitude, I connected the scale to the Hoyer Lift using the provided rubber spacers and an additional shim to stabilize the assembly. (see photos)I then connected the 6-point cradle to the bottom of the scale using the provided U-bolt , which luckily happened to be the correct dimension to accept the hoyer's cradle pin. When attached this way, the scale added about 8-9 inches between the Hoyer boom arm and the top of the cradle.Problem #1: In order to accept a patient in a sling, the boom arm needed to be raised almost to the top of its lifting range.Problem #2: Another problem I encountered with the scale is that it did not swing freely when the boom arm was raised past a certain point. What happened is that the scale's orange case hit the side of the boom arm pivot and deflected to a non-perpendicular angle. The cradle remained perpendicular, however, the newly assumed angle put unnecessary stress on the scale's case and caused the scale to give inaccurate readings.Bottom Line:Would I buy this scale to use with a Medline MDS88200D Hoyer Lift - NOWould I buy this scale to weigh something else that's heavy? - absolutely YES but only if the hanging points are unimpeded.

Nice scale, but...
...it's a plastic body, not aluminum as the ad leads you to believe. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but I mainly bought this specific scale expecting a metal body. Knowing what I know now, I would have purchased a scale from another seller. Anyways, I'm planning on using this scale as part of a test rig for checking torque wrenches. It appears well built, and while it's nice they include batteries, I swapped them out for better ones. I noticed it turns on automatically when you insert the batteries, which I wish it didn't do. I also noticed that the first few weigh/releases it didn't return to zero (it would be negative 1 or 2 pounds). After a few minutes of weigh, release and tare, it would then return to zero reliably. HOWEVER, when I removed and reinserted the batteries, I had to do a few weigh, release and tares again before it would consistently return to zero on it's own. This probably isn't a big deal to many, but I remove batteries before storing devices like this. I'll play with it a bit more before using it on my test rig. Good addition to my various tools. With that said, I don't recommend this product if you're looking for a metal/aluminum body.

This scale is of very good quality and is one of the most precise I have had. I recommend it for weighing small and large things.

Perfect except for one thing
I'm using this for bow draw weight evaluation... so my comment here doesn't apply to any other use, because normal weighing is constant.Love the product, just wish there was an option for the display to "freeze" at the highest weight measured. Because it doesn't, I have to watch the scale constantly while I slooooowly pull down my compound bow until it's at it's maximum draw, just before the let-off occurs. No regrets, though, and I'll be using it for other things, so that one shortcoming isn't even close to a deal-breaker.I HAVE seen comments here on assembling this item, specifically the top part where the rubber gaskets go for the metal loop. I have no idea why that's a challenge for some people, but if you find that hard to figure out, then the problem isn't really the unit or instructions. You simply remove the cotter pin from the bolt, slide the bolt out of the loop, put the rubber washers in the recesses at the top of the unit, slide the loop over the washers (it fits perfectly, then slide the bolt back through the loop. Then you replace the cotter pin, making sure it's bent out enough that it won't slip out of the bolt.Very, very, very basic stuff.

Looks compact, well designed, and hopefully accurate
The unit looks very good. My intended use is to weigh game (deer and turkeys) and also boxes of frozen fish that we ship. I can't give a working review because I haven't used it yet, but it looks well made and has some well thought out features, like a shackle hook for attaching to your hoist. Hindsight being 20/20, I would have preferred to buy the one that has a metal case. I'm careful with my tools (like this scale) , but buying the metal case may have given me additional peace of mind. The analogue scale this is replacing was horribly inaccurate( +/- 2lbs) and when it fell off the hoist and hit the concrete, it died a merciful death.Update to earlier review:Upon opening the box, I had questions about the number and size of the batteries the unit required. I contacted Modern Step, and Paul, the owner, was almost instantaneous in responding to me and answering any questions I had. The batteries which were to be included weren't there, and he graciously offered to compensate me for the cost of the batteries, which I chose to decline. Truly excellent customer service; I'd readily buy from him again. Definitely 5 star customer support.
