This book does a great job of teaching young students about shade, which is a Next Generation Science Standard. Whether you’re a teacher using this book to meet that standard or you’re a homeschooling parent, this is what you need! Topics of sun, shade, warmth, and temperature are covered. A glossary is also included. It’s hard to find books aligned to the NGSS and shade isn’t a common topic in other science books, but this series nails it.

I bought several titles in this series for my 1st grade niece who love science. This book does a great job of explaining complex scientific concepts in a simple way, plus it has some fun interactive elements to help kids engage with the illustrations and vocabulary. It would be a perfect addition to any elementary science classroom or homeschooling library!
