Aliens: Ultimate Aliens Collector's Edition 4K [Includes Blu-ray and Digital Copy] - 3 Disc Set

Amazing. If you have seen this before, and many times as I have (dozens, no exaggeration), get this. You will see and hear more than you can imagine. Film grain, gone. Just get it. It's incredible for what I believe to be the best entry in the alien universe.

One of my favorite movies, I was worried Cameron would screw up this new transfer like he did with "True Lies". Nope! This is a gorgeous, well restored, unmodified 4k transfer of Aliens. Some of the effects - mattes, projected backgrounds - stand out, but it's almost 40 years old! I am so glad to see this movie in beautiful, eye popping color at such high resolution, but without any "fixes". The practical effects shine through, with Stan Winston's work on the Aliens and Colonial Marines showing just how authentic things looked before CGI.

What I ordered is exactly what I received and wanted and it’s FANTASTIC!!! Aliens 4k Ultimate Edition has a superior picture and (Dolby Atmos) sound never seen or heard until now. Worth every penny and then some. The package was secure and sturdy and the contents were in superb shape just as you would expect your order to be. The arrival time was as stated and on time.

First of all, the movie is of course a classic. About the transfer to 4k. I will tell you that there are new 4k movies don't look this good. When I first bought this 4k transfer move I was not that impressed. I watched it on my 4k tv and my 4k projector but it did not impress me much compared to the blue ray. But then I upgraded to an OLED Tv, and the new Valerian pro 2 projector and that is when I realized how immersive the transfer was on Aliens and the True Lies 4k transfer. I now use this movie to show off the quality of my new projector to my family and friends. When the Marines drop down to the planet and start going through the facility the quality is so good its like you are there. The depth is almost 3d like. If you have the right equipment, then it will feel like watching this move for the first time. Bottom line, if you rated this transfer poorly, you just don't have the right equipment to enjoy this transfer to the fullest. Because with the right equipment, this new 4k transfer of Aliens will awe you.

Say what you will about the use of AI, this looks absolutely incredible, like it was shot yesterday. I love when films are restored to preserve the filmic look, but I also love when they bring it into this century like they have here, especially a movie so perfectly timeless as Aliens. There are tons of young people who just can't stand to watch grainy films, so it keeps them from watching, restorations like this are very good for pulling in you get viewers to older movies.

Everything about this release is amazing. It’s like watching it in the theater again; except for a major flaw at around the 2 hour point when Riley is rescuing Newt. The movie pauses and loses it picture with heavy digital artifacts scrambling the picture. That wasted the whole experience for me. Does anyone else have this problem, and should there be a recall on this disc and replaced with a corrected version.

I ordered Aliens 4K back in April, along with the 4K of Alien which I need to check, and watched the blu-ray version and downloaded the digital codes and then upgraded from my old Sony blu-ray player to a new Sony 4K player. The player has been cool with me streaming Netflix, as well as all my digital downloaded movies, but last night I started the 4K of Aliens but it froze around the time that they pick up the movement that turns out to be loan survivor Newt. I'd read some reviews that the player had issues with freezing but others said you needed to make sure it was set correctly but the disc still froze. I went down a rabbit hole online and have found several that say the 4K of Aliens, True Lies, and The Abyss are freezing and I noticed that Amazon no longer sells this copy. I contacted Amazon customer service and the automated said that I didn't qualify for a refund due to it being past time but I then talked to a couple of actual people who said they didn't know what was going on with the release but they refunded my purchase and said to just keep the item and not to worry about it. Sucks but at least I can still watch the regular blu-ray and the digital versions. Hoping that they reach out and give us fans a replacement but whatever. Just buyer beware.

This is not a true 4K scan of Aliens, rather the old 2k blu ray scan upscaled with AI and digital grain removal.
