Amazing tester. Every IT tech should have one.
There are cheaper cat5/6 testers out there but nothing I have seen does what this unit can do. With other testers it's a GO / NO GO test. You can figure that out by using your equipment. This unit identifies a break on each pair and how many feet away it is.It measures network capacity (10/100/1000) for VoIP, data, and video. The device can troubleshoot length, distance to fault, wire map, opens, shorts, PoE, insertion loss, cross talk, and noise issues. The device is capable of advanced diagnostics and can detect single wire faults and supports MultiMap mode with up to seven remote office identifiers. It can also locate and trace cables with digital toning technology. One use of this tool and you will see how much time it will safe you.

Absolutely needed!
Great product and one that I as a cable tech cannot be without. I have utilized this product now for about 6 months on a weekly basis and it never fails me. I also have a fluke 3100 DSP and the Fluke Cable IQ is far simpler to use with the exception that I cannot print out test results (very seldom requested by customer.) I have not needed the 3100 in this six month period. Battery life is great, compact and very reliable.

Will straighten out your wiring problems.
Very reliable. I did some of my own wiring but had some connections issues. This tool makes it super fast and easy to pin point the location of wiring problems. This item is pricey but saved me hours of my time and is great confirmation that hard wired network connections are fully functional. Expensive but less than half the price of paying a professional to do the work.

a pro tool for pro's that understand the 3 levels of testing and measuring cables
listen i''ve been a low voltage electrician for over 22yrs both as an employee and a self employed contractor; this is by far one of the best investments and tools i've purchased in my career. over 2 years ago i purchased a pockethernet for $300(an awesome meter too on a budget), the 1st i had lasted and worked for about 18 months w/no issues, but shot the sheriff when i needed it most(replaced for free)... my ideal and other off brand validation meters did the same(no replacement option on any)... while i still only use my replaced pockethernet for port verification, CDP/LLP/Link/traffic... as this fluke meter really doesn't have these functions; all my copper measurement needs i've handed off to fluke... as it has a trusted copper VERIFICATION test... the beast gets the job done quickly and easily with the turn of a knob, making it pretty hard to argue. i've used the fluke generator and probe for years, but the inteltone probe took my tone/locate game to a new level in a messy mdf/idf... 4 to 5min find in 32ru rack with 6 48 patches full, seriously... but make sure you register and study the manual, as there are a lot of hidden functions, you'll be glad you did... turn that 2 hour trouble into a 10 min trouble for the same money...

It's a little spendy but a good investment.
Works as advertised, I use this tool often with my work. It's a little spendy but a good investment. If you can, pick up the companion tool for toning out mystery wiring (tracing cables), otherwise pick up an inexpensive non-fluke set and you will have everything you need to track down, test, and verify performance of copper cabling.

Excellent for toning and identifying wire runs
It's a Fluke meter, not much more to say. This is an essential tester for network technicians. Excellent for toning and identifying wire runs, Qualifying and confirming capabilities (10, 100, 1000, etc.) of wire runs and for troubleshooting crossed & poorly terminated wires. The CIQ-KIT comes with everything you need to Qualify up to 8 runs at a time with the included remote ID's, Locate cables with the IntelliTone Toner and several other network tests. However, it does not come in the bag pictured but instead comes in a nice protected carry case.

Saves me a lot of time in the field; worth the investment
You can't go wrong when it comes to Fluke instruments. This one in particular helps me troubleshoot wiring problems in seconds. The battery lifetime is amazingly long (as opposed to its counterpart the Fluke Network Analyzer), and mine came on a Pelican-style case, not the one shown here. The product is sturdy, well designed and the accessory cables are good quality. Very satisfied - once more - with this product. Worth the investment.
