Bought as a gift to send to Australia and after a quick check found it to be a sturdy excellent design. Top section push-fits together (easily), so no screw fittings to get over-tightened/broken. Love the additional 'underside of bug' viewer. Attractive design on box. Very reasonable price.

I bought this for my four year old grandson who loves bugs and nature. Easy for small hands to use and manipulate.

Great price. Found that the top half got broken quite easily. Wish you could buy them separately or that the top was a durable as the base.

I'm quite surprised that other reviews rate this so highly: whilst it is solidly made and easy to use, we found it suffers from 'backlighting' issues due to the reflections from the angled mirror required to provide horizontal views. The vertical/dorsal view ( looking down on the bug) suffers a little interference by stray light, but at least you can see markings of the bug faily clearly. However, and especially outside in the sun, the horizontal view (of the bug's underside) is seriously compromised by stray light, the backlighting effect of this meaning you cannot see any detail of bug's underside: it's pretty much just a blacked out image. OK, the device is only a fiver or so, but I thought I should point this problem out. For the record, I will return this device and stick to a single bug viewing device. (11/16)

I got this as we were doing a topic on animals etc so this was perfect to look at the tiny critters in the garden. Easy to use and the handles are perfect for small hands.
