Excellent knife.
First impressions, opened the package a few hours ago and haven't cut any trees down yet. This knife feels very solid, the full tang is exposed with a 90 degree edge, just like the spine, to spark those ferro rods . The plastic handle fits my hand well, very solid but wish it was a bit more grippy like the Mora Companion. Out of the box the blade edge was not sharp, but after awhile with the wet stone it now slices paper like a razor. I'm a newbie with the Scandi edge but am liking it, after a few yooootooob videos on how to sharpen the Scandinavian edge it is easy to get very sharp. The knife snaps securely into the plastic survival sheath, no way it will fall out by accident. The belt loop looks like fake leather but feels okay. The ferro rod snaps in very securely, it won't fall out, I have to rotate it and pull to get it out, it makes sparks. The diamond sharpener is built into the sheath, haven't used it.Overall an absolutely excellent knife, well worth the $76, you should never feel guilty spending money on good knives or books.Edit:After trying and exploring things I like the diamond sharpener for sharpening the spine, this can make it very sharp for making sparks with the supplied ferro rod, or even better, your ferro rod of choice.. To sharpen and hone the blade I will use my wet stone.

Awesome smaller bushcraft knife
Perspective context: I'm an amateur collector of cheaper, but good quality knives, generally of a value of under $75. I prefer carbon steel, and I love to get them hair-splitting sharp. I've got a variety of Moras, including three of their carving knives. This is a great, smaller bushcraft knife. It's not as robust as its larger, more expensive cousins, but will do the job for most of your basic knife duties, including moderate batoning. It's pretty sharp out of the box, but of course I felt the need to do a little stone, ceramic and stropping magic. It's now stupid sharp.I love the heft and length of this knife. I've always felt more confidence with heavier, full-tang blades, and this is no exception. The 90° spine is perfect for sparking ferro rods, and the carbon steel is easy to keep super sharp, even if may not retain an edge as well as the more brittle stainless. I find it able to take an edge better on average. The grip feels good in the hand.Drawbacks are few. On the knife itself, I wish there was a sharpening choil. The blade has a coating right to the edge that will help preserve it from rust, but which is easily scratched and removed if your sharpening is careless. The grip has a small to moderate bolster, which will protect your index finger for most work, but may not be adequate enough with heavy point-forward use like drilling, punching or stabbing. On the plastic sheath, I got the "survival" kit with the sharpener and the ferro rod. Unless my blade needs extreme edge repair, I will never use the super-coarse diamond sharpener. That might be better for an axe blade. This blade needs a 400 to 1000 grit stone, some ceramic honing, and then a leather strop to make it awesome. A 150-grit diamond strip is just too aggressive and will quickly ruin the edge back quite a ways. The ferro rod is small but works fine. All in all, this is a great knife for the average camper, outdoorsman and basic bushcrafter. Unless you're a reenactor, a serious bushcrafter/YouTuber with something to prove, or someone who uses a knife to pry tent stakes out of the ground, you're probably not going to need anything beyond this knife. Enjoy!

Sharp and unbelievably solid
This is a knife that would be in its element doing any task from chores around the house to building a desperately needed fire in a wilderness setting. The same is true of a lot of other Mora knives at a much cheaper price point, of course. If you're sweating the price difference, just buy another model. I promise the difference between life and death is not gonna be whether your knife is full tang or rat tail. That said, if you're going to splurge a little on a knife, at least you know with this one that your not wasting the money on silly design or faddish features. Mora obviously uses good steel, but even if it was crappy material the heft and simplicity of the blade would still make it useful as a tool. The grip is plastic, but it certainly feels rugged enough to keep up and fits well in my largish hands. Mine came sharp, not razor sharp, but more than enough for the intended use. I dont see why Mora should put an extreme edge on this knife for shipment when the whole point of the carbon fiber scandi grind combo is the ease of sharpening it to your preferred sharpness at home or in the field. It does seem like some people might have got genuinely dull ones. Just exchange it for another one, because mine cut through paper on opening (though the thickness of the spine means your tests wont be as smooth as with a more delicate knife). This is not a self defense knife. But it's not like most of us are trying to walk around town with a scary looking 9 inch knife on our belts anyway. That situation is why folders were imvented. Then again, unless you're trained in knife combat this long sharp chunk of metal with a solid grip is probably as good as the next one.Anyway, I expect this knife and the thick leather sheath to be helping me and then my kids cut and hack our way through things for many years to come.
