Good variety
Got this for one of my granddaughters, she’s 8 and a budding rock hound, she loves it and that’s what matters

We love the rocks, but the booklet could use some editing!
This is an awesome set, the booklet, however could have used an edit as so many things are wrong with it!

I
I think these should've come with the display containers already labeled. Like giving a parent the answer key, it would be very helpful because some of these rocks look... exactly the same to me. It doesn't matter if I have them in a pile or in the packaging, it's all chaos. I have looked at the book and the materials are fine but a little headstart would've been nice. At this point, I can't even confidently evaluate if I got one of each stone or if some ARE duplicates.

Amazing value- great for homeschooling!
I am honestly very surprised that they could put together a kit like this with so much variety for the money. One of the things we have enjoyed the most is actually the deck of cards. Every single card has a beautiful colored picture of a stone on it with a little bit of educational tidbits. The kids have had a lot of fun playing regular card games with them. The fact that the cards, the booklet, and the stones all match is rather incredible. I have to wonder at the effort to coordinate all of it into a package like this. It's very impressive. The booklet is well written. I've reviewed a few educational kits where the booklet included was poorly translated, and was pleased that this wasn't the case. In fact, it was very well written, covered relevant and interesting things about minerals, rock hunting, polishing stones, and that sort of thing. And there were lots of great full-color pictures throughout. I loved the booklet.Yes, the stones are unpolished, and yes some of them are hard to tell apart, but so many of them we could tell, and if you have ever purchased gemstones at a rock shop, you know how much they cost, even raw stones. Sorting these rocks isn't something those fancy machines would do, I think it is being done by hand. We are thinking about putting some of these in our rock tumbler, but we need to do a bit of research first to figure out which ones can handle it since some of the stones might be too soft.I've seen decks of cards like this run around $8, and an educational booklet like this would maybe be $4. That means the stones would be about 33 cents each, which is a great value, especially when you consider the large variety of stones. Some are common and cheap, but some are gemstones worth more.Overall, it's a fantastic package, and it has certainly made my kids be more curious about rocks and minerals. Some of them already had the bug, but all of them were drawn in to the activity of labeling the stones and trying to figure out what they were.Easily 5* from this homeschooling mama with 7 kids. The educational value is really high, and the kids thought it was really cool.

Super Fun Kit
I got this for some of the kids that I work with. I noticed that they took quite a liking to colleting rocks from outside. I can't say for sure if any of the rocks that come in this kit are real minerals, they definitely do look the part though. The little guide book is a fun thing to look through, and has some pretty interesting information in it.

Buyer beware
The rocks are cool but it is SUPER confusing to identify them and it ends up being a huge mess. The labels are all separate and there’s no way to correctly identify all the rocks.

Fun
A very interesting kit for children interested in geology. The rocks are rather small but are described in the booklet and appear in the card game. Fun and educational.
