Beta Alanine is a non-essential amino acid that is required for the body to produce Carnosine, a substance within muscle that acts like a buffer in maintaining normal levels of acidity. When acid levels rise because of exercise, the work capacity of muscle is reduced. Increased levels of Carnosine in the muscle are key to delaying fatigue and, thereby, increasing endurance. Dietary supplementation with Beta Alanine has been shown to increase Carnosine content in muscle and improve capacity for extended exercise.
