I got this mate "gourd" to have an extra for company (I had another that came with a set). The insulated metal material is easy to clean and keeps my mate nice and warm. It's also more durable than a true gourd. The size is fine, and the bombilla with a cleaning brush is a nice extra. Good value for the money, IMO. Nice if you don't want to worry about maintaining a more authentic but fussy gourd. You could certainly also use this for coffee, tea, or small iced beverages, if you're not too much of a purist.

The media could not be loaded. I paid around $8 and honestly, it works just like any expensive mate cup. It’s made of stainless steel on the inside, which is great because it doesn’t change the flavor of the yerba, and it’s black on the outside, giving it a sleek, modern look. What I liked the most is that it comes with several accessories this makes it very practical, especially if you’re new to drinking mate and don’t want to spend a lot of money at first. It does everything a fancy mate cup does, but at a fraction of the price.

The amount of Yerba you'd typically use would require very little water to fill this cup up, I believe its my fault for ordering such a small size. The spoons it came with are pretty good, so I still recommend this for a value purchase, although I feel like you will want to upgrade quite soon after trying it.

Ease to hold keep the mate hot looks the same as the photo you can easily drink from it

The bottom of the cup is slightly convex, so it wobbles when sitting on a flat surface. The size is great and it keeps your mate warm, but it is not the best choice.
