It worked!
Hard boiled eggs have always been a guess. I used this handy tool for the first time and it worked as described. I dropped it in the water with the eggs and waited for it to change from green to white. This is when the eggs were to be hard boiled. There are other choices of egg prep too. The eggs were perfectly cooked. I should have gotten one of these years ago.

It really works!
Just drop it in the water and it tells you if your egg is cooked to your liking. Very sturdy. Small. Cute little gadget. Do you need it? Not necessarily.
