Works well , is Large
I know this curling item did not receive a lot of good reviews but i was pretty certain it was what i needed and am glad i bought it. 1 1/2 inch irons are difficult to find and i have wavy wiry hair that requires direction and this works beautifully. Smooths out wiry frizzy stuff . However, i see how it could be difficult for someone who was not real experienced with large irons. Besides the larger barrel, the length of the barrel itself is quite long (they do include a glove for protecting hands & fingers). I am a experienced hairstylist who has worked with Marcel Irons thru my career and that helped a lot. A marcel iron does not have a spring clamp to hold the hair in, it's loose and you continuously feed the hair thru the barrel by loosening on the clamp and rotating the iron. That's what needs to happen with this iron especially if you have long hair. You keep pressing on the spring clamp (to lift it and loosen the hair) and rotate the iron as you work. It may be difficult for those without that knowledge but i know many of you are experienced with irons. So, hope that helps.

Curling iron
Large, long barrel. I can curl my hair in 4 swipes! Doesn’t hold hair tight around barrel, and I thought I wouldn’t like that, but this actually allows you to just pull the hair through and give a gentle curl. Similar method as using a straightener. Because I’m just pulling the hair around the barrel to curl the ends, I use the high heat setting. My hair is layered, slightly longer than shoulder length, and works great. Probably not ideal for short hair.

Great for long, thick hair
Nice curling iron for long, thick hair! Heats up quickly. Only issue is the clamp is not tight enough at the very base so you have to use larger sections of hair otherwise the hair will slip through/fall out. Probably wouldn't recommend for finer-haired or thinner-haired ladies.

Barrel Was Really Large
This is the largest 1.75" barrel I have ever seen. Far too large for many hair lengths other than very long. It heats quickly, however the off button is located exactly where my thumb sits to turn the barrel during curling. I had to constantly keep turning it back on for this reason. I tried it only the 1 time and it had no effect on my hair...again I don't have incredibly long hair... and the off button issue would have driven me nuts. Unfortunately, the seller does not offer free returns and I had to pay shipping fees. Considering the iron was almost $100 I took the $22 hit on postage.

Inconsistent
I like that it heats up to 450 degrees. I find that this curling iron smooths my hair and gives it a little volume. However, the first time I used it, the digital display went a little crazy and kept blinking off and on. I’m hoping that it’s not an indication of poor quality.EDITED TO ADD:I liked the original 2” curling iron I purchased so I purchased another one in a smaller barrel size. The larger barrel works great, but the 1.75” is not as good. It takes much longer to heat up, approximately 5 minutes while the 2” heats up in a minute. It also seems to be rougher on my hair. The 2” curling iron glides through my hair while the 1.75” seems to tug at my hair and be a little rough on it.
