I switched to Casio from Seiko and Timex watches in the mid 1980s, after much frustration at how they don’t hold up for more than a year or two. Since then, I had a series of Casios that lasted me over a decade. I never expected any of them to last that long. Some I gave away to friends, when they were in a bind for a watch that works, and they still work after a decade on my wrist and a few years on theirs.This is the one of the cheapest G-Shocks available. If you want a functional and durable watch at a reasonable price, you can’t go wrong with this one.This is my first G-Shock, after I bought a couple for my teenage sons. Each of those G-Shocks needed a new rubber straps after a few years, and a new battery after about 8-9 years, but no serious service. I don’t expect these watches to be serviceable beyond strap and battery anyway.My watch is very strong, durable, and easy to use. It is slightly thinner and more comfortable than most G-Shock watches. Time, day and date are clear. The resin band is comfortable and strong. It’s still going strong after 4 years.After my previous long history with Casios, I don’t know if the G-Shocks are worth the extra cost and bulk. It’s just as dependable as my previous Casios.I had Casios with steel cases in the past, and replaced the bands with metal bracelets when the resin started to crack. Stainless steel bracelets seem to last longer than the resin ones. I wish Casio offered affordable G-Shocks with a metal body and casing, for those less attracted to the plasticky black resin.
