Great concept but lousy execution.....
I was stoked to find this product. We have a solar hot water installation on our roof and the pipes from the collector to the tank need to be insulated with foam tubing as it can freeze if left unprotected. Here in the desert, the foam last about 2 years before it turns to entirely to powder. This product seemed like an ideal solution by having the foam protected from the UV by the aluminum foil wrap.I installed this on the tubing.... wrapped the foil cover and attached it with the adhesive (under the paper like a peel and stick). Looked fantastic!. Put a strip of aluminum tape around each seam to make it watertight (it is on the roof, after all). I was all proud of myself and bragged about my genius solution.Fast forward 24 hours... all the seams had opened up as the adhesive had failed on the edge used to seal the seam.... up there flapping in the wind - thumbing it's nose at me. The only places remaining close is where I used the UL approved aluminum tape. The rest of each section? Wide open.To make a long story short, this might work well in a cool location (think crawlspace) but in the heat and sun? Fuggedaboudit. I ended up running strips of aluminum tape to reseal each section.... we'll see how that works out. So an hour of my life and $50 down the drain.
