Nostalgic Fun with a Modern Twist!
The Tamagotchi Connection - Clear Retro is a perfect blend of nostalgia and entertainment! As someone who grew up with the original Tamagotchis, I was thrilled to see this version stay true to the classic experience while incorporating some modern upgrades. The clear shell design is a fantastic retro touch, making it feel like a genuine throwback to the early 2000s. The gameplay remains engaging—caring for your digital pet, feeding it, playing mini-games, and even connecting with other Tamagotchis brings back so many fond memories. The infrared connection feature adds a fun social aspect, allowing pets to interact and form friendships. The screen is crisp, the buttons are responsive, and the overall build quality feels durable. Whether you're a longtime fan or introducing a new generation to the joys of Tamagotchi, this is an absolute must-have. It's a small device that delivers hours of fun and nostalgia. Highly recommended!

Pure Nostalgia
Reminds me of simpler times. Pros: (1) Not rechargeable and uses cell batteries that should last for about a month or so, if it’s anything like the original tamagotchis; rechargeable batteries have a shelf life so when they’re done, they’re done. (2) It’s a mixture of several tamagotchi connections (Japanese and English versions) and is the most like the v3 in style and functionality, so there are a lot of things to do. (3) There’s a lot of fun games to play, items to collect, and adorable characters to raise; the screen stays on so you can see different animations of your tamagotchi hanging out all day. (4) The connection function adds more games and interactions to “connect” and grow relationships and marry. (5) I find that the tamagotchi isn’t quite as needy as an adult. (6) Materials are sturdy but I have a crochet cover on mine and I plan to put a screen protector on it. Buttons are firm and responsive. (7) The sound isn’t very loud and piercing; it seems like they lowered the tones and cut them shorter when compared to the originals. (8) The new shells are fun, but the bubbles is my favorite in this wave; based on an interview with Tara from Bandai, there are going to be more waves of shell releases every season. Cons: (1) No pause, but you could take out your battery or go to the clock “set” function to “pause” or hibernate; or you could change the time to line up the tamagotchi’s sleep schedule with your schedule. (2) The contrast is low, meaning the background is dark and the pixels don’t have enough contrast to be seen against the dark background, so you have to be under a bright light to see the screen or tilt it at the right angle under a bright light; the originals had higher contrast and the screen was not as dark. (3) Japan released their own tamagotchi connection shells that I found more attractive than the US global release shells (e.g, Melon Soda); I wish the Japanese shells were released globally. I am ecstatic that Bandai brought the connection back; I’m looking forward to seeing more shells and perhaps updates to the functionality so that we could experience the v4-v6 connection features (e.g., getting jobs = more games, raising multiple tamagotchis, themes) as well. Thank you, Bandai!

Amazing!
Sooo cute! This makes me sooo happy! I got my daughter one as well. It’s so cute how they can play together! I get compliments on them alllll the time. People will stop me and ask my about it when they see. The battery does die super fast. That’s really my only fault with it. Other than that it’s so so cute!!!

So cute but battery dies a lil fast
I named him Jimmy >:3 he is so cute, has lots of games to play then the old versions and way more character model things you can get then my last one did, its good quality and its a good size. plus easy to navigate around in the menus and things. def worth the money and a good gift for someone who would be into something like this. the only downside I've had is how often i have to change the battery, luckily it doesn't reset the whole thing when it dies the only problem is the date and time will be off if you don't change it right away which can get annoying if he ends up being awake while your asleep.

No Pause Feature!!
Yup. Unlike the OG v3 this does not have that same pause feature. For busy adults there are some workarounds. Press B to open the clock and edit it. Leave it in edit mode for as long as you need. Once you finish editing the time the game continues as normal. You also can pull out the battery. These have some kind of non volatile memory or flash memory (works without power) so you can pull the battery out or reuse the pull tab shim. Just make sure you select download and not reset. Press B once it starts to open the menu to download. Looking forward to the new Paradise model!!Update 18 days later the got the low battery warning forcing me to replace the battery. Out of curiosity I did a full teardown. For a small pocket toy they are built exceptionally well. If you like to mod things you'll find this easy to work with. I didn't feel the need to repaint it but Instead swapped the the paper card background for an all white background to make it much easier to see. (Made from Wells Fargo account statements)

Terrible battery life
A fun bit of nostalgia, but the battery dies after about a week. Every new battery I put in it dies in roughly the same time frame. Kind of ruins the fun. Was fun while it lasted. The games are fun, it's easy to learn, colors remind me of a 90s arcade, works well when the battery isn't dead. But I don't think it's a good value, even at the discounted price I paid, since I would need to spend a fortune on replacement batteries to keep it running
