Nothing Is Wrong captures both Dawes' studio and stage approaches, matching the loose extemporaneity and crunchy dynamism of the band's live sets with finely honed arrangements and deft musicianship. The album evinces the band's self-assured strength right from the start by bursting off the blocks with the impossibly infectious "Time Spent in Los Angeles." Throughout the record, Goldsmith's lyrics evoke a powerful feeling of constant movement and endless fleeting moments. Songs like "The Way You Laugh" or the choogling "If I Wanted Someone" are wistful and melancholic, while the ruminative, piano-driven closing track "Little Bit of Everything" (featuring pedal steel guitarist Ben Peeler) is peopled with indelible characters encountered on his travels. A must have.

A gem of an album
The finest album of the year 2011. The songwriting is right up there with some of the masters of yesteryear. Engaging songs that will drop you to your knees. My nine year old daughter grooves to it and often ask me to put it on. Without hesitation I put ii in my disk player and we both have an emotional experience. Truly a gem of an album. This cd should go down as a classic. Its to bad that most contemporary listeners listen to the fluff that is played on the radio. Give these guys what they deserve and buy their music. You wont be disappointed and if you are come and find me and I will try to convince you of the beauty found in these songs.

Needle in a haystack
Love this band. I have never really enjoyed mainstream music that most of my 20something peers like. I love folk rock, classic rock and even some of the oldies. Some examples are Joni Mitchel, Gordon Lightfoot, DonMclean,Simon and Garfukel, The Who, Otis Redding, The Beach Boys etc.Just a fan of good harmony. This band definitely has that good old soothing folk sound chock full of rhythm and harmony. Dawes are much more than just catchy, there is a true quality and a complexity to the music. Picture Dawes as a body: bones of folk, flesh of old school rock, blood of a Cali percussion sound and skin made of harmony and melody. Their music will continue to grow on you while never growing old. There should be more bands like this in mainstream, true talent.

A Little Bit of Everything
I can't even find all of the right words to express how amazing this album is.I picked it up on the recommendation from a friend, happened to get it when it was on sale for $3.99.After hearing it, I'd have spent much more to hear this masterpiece.Every song has a similar sound with a unique flair. My Way Back Home is a masterpiece, as is If I Wanted Someone and A Little Bit of Everything.Heck, I'd go as far to say that each song is!This band is headed in the right direction and I foresee big things for them in the future.Southern Rock with a subtle country flair, remeniscent of The Band, I insist that you don't miss this piece of musical awesomeness.

I've been around the block once or twice; and "Nothing Is Wrong" with these Fine Musicians.
I saw Dawes on PBS last week. I signed on to AMAZON the next day and purchased this album. They are just that good. And I've heard the mentioned bands that they were compared to, and my reaction to that is just to say that while I enjoy those bands also, listening to Dawes did not even bring those others to my mind. I hear total originality in Dawes sound. Yes, they may be in the same idiom (let's face it ... jazz sounds like jazz .... americana sounds like americana ... yada, yada, yada). I hope Dawes will be around for a long, long time to come. Because I am . . .Djalimo Djalimo

Bought two of their albums after seeing them on Austin City Limits
I love this music! This album has the songs from ACL. The music is so well written and performed it just gives you a very "UP" feeling every time you play them. I constantly record and watch Austin City Limits to find out who's out there and doing well. Their performance was the best I've seen in a long time. If you look at their website for the tour, it seems to be booked, where many bands today aren't touring for whatever reason. There's no gimmick with these guys, they don't need one, just great songs well written and performed.I also like buying the album here on Amazon, including auto rip---no waiting for the mail.

An amazing follow up to North Hills
This is a group of musicians that not only are in complete and totaly sync with each other, but they also know how to get to the heart of their listener. Flawless harmonies, warm sounds of the organ, and Taylor's sweet melodic voice make this album a 10... and that's out of 5 stars. I wasn't sure what to expect with this album; I didn't know if it could live up to the pedestal I have put their first album, North Hills, on (actually, it was just called 'Dawes' when I first purchased it, but that's neither here nor there). This album has surpassed every expectation I had. Buy it. Listen to it. Love it.-Rodrigo

A folksy song album, not the instrumental album I thought I was buying
Well, this is a solidly o.k. album, if you wanted a folksy songs album. It's my first Mike Dawes album as I only recently heard his FANTASTIC instrumental guitar work online. Thought I was getting an instrumental album. Should've done more research, and now I shall.
