I have the Litter Robot and now this
So far I give it 5 stars as of Nov 22, 2025. I own the Litter Robot 3 and 4. 3 was great to start. It has been about 6 years and the sensor of when a cat is in it is starting to go. It has problems telling when to rotate. So it's kind of a sitting, round regular litter box right now. The 4... pfff. Apparently as LR comes out with newer models, they're full of problems. I've had it for about 3 years and I have had terrible issues with it. I've fixed most but the one I just can't solve is that even with no litter in it, even with the gears free of clog, it will not rotate. It tries to but moves a few millimeters back and forth from its spot (no matter what position I place the sphere in) and just tries to turn and just can't. So it stops trying. So this one currently is also a sitting, round regular litter box now. I've seen ads for this and decided to try it. I LOVE that it holds so much more litter than the 3 and 4 combined. I got it set up and working within 5 minutes. Works fine from the get-go. The front of it displayed a '0' when set up, I thought it was an error note at first but it actually is a counter display of how many times it has filtered the litter. It displays a cute cat animation when it detects a cat in it by weight. It has a count down timer of when it is about to do a filter and a progress bar when it starts. The grate levels out the litter with three passes after it's done. I would rather it be two passes because that takes longer than I like but that's no issue really. Get the plastic bin, don't bother with the cardboard one it comes with. There is a plug that you plug into the side of the litter box that tells the flap on the back of the waste box lid when the waste box should be opened. That's pretty neat. My kittens, one is named Circle who is brave and already peed in it to claim it as hers because she is a fearless apex predator. My other kitten "Orange" also declares "I am an apex predator!" as the rustle of a fake houseplant falling over startles him into a full speed run across the linoleum floor and his ignorance of momentum + turning across a slick surface causes him to wipe out into his water dish. Spilling it everywhere. He will take some time to get adjusted to it. Overall it's pretty simplistic and nice. I'll update this as time passes to see if it still has great functionality and if it lasted longer than the Litter Robots did.

2nd Purchase!
We purchased our first Popur x5 with a plastic bin in December 2023. At that time, we only had 4 cats. We have rescued more cats and now have 8! We bought an automatic litter box from another manufacturer. It is a drum type that rotates. It is also difficult to clean and I don't feel like it holds enough litter. Our adult male cats are not too fond of it. They prefer open boxes. We also have regular litter boxes. Our house is not open concept, so the rooms are broken up and divided. We keep multiple boxes because even though everybody is spayed or neutered, the cats are still territorial. And while these electric boxes are great and made for multiple cats, I prefer for them to have more options. Anyway, we came back to purchase another Popur x5 because it is what works for my cats. The first one we bought December 2023 has some litter granules stuck in the gears of the filter swing arm. So it is slowing down a little. If you purchase this, I would recommend putting a cover of some type over the open metal gears where the filter swing arm moves. I took some clear packing tape, cleaned the plastic part that says "Popur" and made a sort of shield with the tape all the way across. I also put tape on the back of that first piece of tape, so it wouldn't stick to the trash bag in the plastic bin when it dumps and then folded the back tape over the front tape. There are also silicone draft guards for doors that might work but you would need to "caulk" the gap between the plastic Popur piece and whatever you use to shield as there would be a ledge to catch litter. We did have issues with our orange male trying to dig a pit to China whenever he would use the litter box. He would literally shovel it out of the box onto the floor. He's gotten used to it and no longer does that. We just swept the litter up and put it back until he figured it out. Also, one of my cats is 18.5 lbs. He could turn around where his hind end is at the back corner of the box but he does not. He chooses to place his hind end at the front corner. Because of this, we have to keep litter shoveled up the side of the box a little past the liner. If the litter is not there and he pees in the front corner, it runs under the plastic guard at the front of the box. It could potentially run onto your floor if there were enough urine. Luckily, we didn't have that issue before we figured out a work around. The instructions with the product tell you not to fill it above the liner but you gotta do what you gotta do. We also have an elderly,16-year-old female cat. She loves using the Popur x5. She has no issue climbing in even though she has arthritis. We also have three cats that will not use the electric boxes. You have to find what works best for your cat. This Popur x5 is what works best for our felines.

Popur is a Horrible LitterBox, Defective after using for less than 2 Months. Want refund of $399
I ordered my Popur LitterBox as a brand new and unused item for $399.00 on July 15, 2025. I received the LitterBox toward the end of July 2025 (it took over a week to received my LitterBox). I have 3 cats and 3 different robot litter boxes (including this LitterBox). My other 2 robot litter boxes were purchased a year ago and both are still working like they are brand new. After 2 months of using this Popur Automatic Robot LitterBox, I cannot express enough, my extreme disappointment of this product. First of all, the split litter system does not have sensors that communicate to the LitterBox that the split litter bin is full. Which means the LitterBox will continually dump the waste into the bin, regardless as to whether the split litter bin is full or not. I discovered this issue after returning home from a 7 day trip and finding the litter bin was stacked full of the waste clumps, which overfilled onto the floor. Additionally, the LitterBox has a pivot crevice located just above the split litter waste bin. This crevice is in the worst location imaginable, as it will fill-up with the litter waste that is dumped into the split waste bin and gets gunked-up when it over-fills the split litter bin (due to the lack of sensors and communication between the litter box and litter waste bin). Due to this design flaw / poor design, I am constantly cleaning the surrounding floor beneath the split litter bin. Which is absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. The next design flaw of this LitterBox is the massive footprint it takes up, due to the split litter waste-bin. As you cannot access the split litter bin easily by reaching over the LitterBox (as the LitterBox itself is Two Feet in Length, the litter waste bin is an additional 9” in length on top of the 24” for the LitterBox. Meaning you’ll need about 3 Feet in length (plus the space for a litter mat to catch stray litter). As the split litter waste bin is not easy to reach by way of reaching over the LitterBox, you have to access the split litter waste-bin by the side for cleaning. The LitterBox and split litter waste bin are about 22 Inches Wide, of which you’ll need at least another 12 Inches / 1 Foot for access to perform clesning and removal of the waste bag with the cat waste. Which means this LitterBox takes up about 9-15 Square Feet of Space (3 Feet in Width and at least 3-5 Feet in Length when using a litter catching mat and a litter ramp for access to the box). Which is a massive footprint for any LitterBox! Had this LitterBox worked flawlessly and did not malfunction within 2 months of use (with 3 cats and 2 other Automatic Robot Litterboxes in the house (which are also used regularly by my cats), I would have zero issues sacrificing such a large footprint for my cats’ bathroom space, but again, both parts are defective. I had high hopes for the LitterBox but out of all of the Automatic Robot Litterboxes that I have purchased over 15 Years that I have had my cats, this LitterBox is by far the most disappointing. I have contacted customer service and requested to return my LitterBox for a full refund, due to the LitterBox being defective and not functioning per their design as advertised. I’ll update my review if Popur rightfully resolves the issue. UPDATE: This seller knowingly sells defective products. They do not issue refunds for their defective products thus forcing you to deal with their customer service department and a defective product you don’t want to keep. I tried to request a refund upon return of the LitterBox, due to the LitterBox and Litter waste bin both being defective. Popur denied the return, which I then had to file an A-Z claim after 2 months of having my LitterBox. Popur replied to my A-Z Claim with the offer to replace the split litter waste bin LID, which I did not want to deal with, as a littler box of the is price point should not be defective so early on. Due to Popur denying my claim, Amazon could not help me with the Claim again Popur, (Amazon could not provide customer service by way of returning the product for a full refund, as Popur now not an Amazon affiliated company). Which is an expensive lesson to learn to only purchase Amaxon affiliated merchandise to ensure the full extent of Amazon Customer Support, Services and Warranties. This LitterBox smells horrible, it does not block odors at all. My whole house stunk due to this LitterBox, PRIOR to the LitterBox defecting. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT BY POPUR: The clear detachable front panel was advertised falsely by Popur, as when detaching this panel for a senior cat to offer low entry, the litter does not stay in the box and upon my senior cat exiting of the LitterBox, the litter dumps out on the floor every single time. Thus, the clear front detachable panel should not be detachable, as it’s the only thing keeping the litter from pouring out during the exit from the LitterBox. All-in-all, I really dislike that I have to keep this $400 defective LitterBox that Popur clearly falsely advertised bad having features that are dysfunctional if used. Popur is a Horrible company, with horrible customer service, and highly unethical practices. I do not recommend this company! I have included a video to show my explained issues with the LitterBox being defective.

Best Box available for large cats
I spent many hours and weeks researching different litter boxes. Originally I went with another brand totally enclosed and I do like it but one of my four Cats won't go into it. I ordered an open top box and unfortunately it was not stable enough for my Big boys so ended up returning it. It rocked back and forth and they would not go in it. I discovered this one from popur and I really wish I'd found it first. It's perfect! I have four cats sizes 9 lb 12 lb 18 lb and 20 lb. For big cats all the other automated boxes out there seem very claustrophobic . Not with this box. Plenty of room. I've even had two of them get in there at the same time without a problem. As far as the waste receptacles my first purchase had a 10L compartment and that would fill up in 5 days. The waste receptacle on this Popur S5 is so large I am emptying it for the first time today. It's been set up for 12 days And three out four cats are using it regularly. 12 days! I used to scoop boxes every three days And now all I have to do is take a garbage bag out once every 12 days. You cannot imagine the relief!!!!

Amazing, except app disconnects and litter catcher
Amazing except the app seems to keep disconnecting, and the cardboard box where the litter is caught is flimsy and looks bad. So I would buy the upgrade or 3d print a new box instead as the box looks dumb and falls apart. Now saying all of the bad, the good: it’s a good size! My big girl can fit in there very easily. I love that it has a curious cat option so that it won’t stop cleaning every time my cat is curious about it moving (a lot). Also love that it levels out the litter each time making it nice and easy for my cats. So great purchase, just upgrade the litter catcher.

Why did l wait so long to buy this??
I just got this set up about 10 days ago and so far it has been great. Absolutely no smell at all and it will need to changed it out for the *first time tomorrow. I have two large boys that have large clumps they leave behind, so it’s pretty impressive the amount of waste the box holds, however, l think my other cat just started using in in the last few days. I did get the box with the plastic waste box because when researching it seemed some people were not happy with the cardboard box. It is very quiet for the most part, which l was worried about. My SIL set it up for me in no time. The waste box is shipped separately from the main litter box. I am thrilled with how long I can go with out doing anything and that there is ZERO odor! 😻 I will amend this review if l have any issues. I don’t have the app portion yet, but may download that. I would definitely recommend this! UPDATE: So far so good with only one complaint l hope they will provide a fix for. While this is a large box for the cat to do his business, he always does it in the front corner which hasn’t been a problem until today because it still always went into the box except a couple of times but today he has diarrhea and it went outside and down the side of the box. 🥴 😹 I was just leaving but glad l stopped to watch him. Anyway, it would be nice if it had a “cat bumper” to force their furry little butts a little farther inside the pan to prevent cats that like to stick their booty’s out from doing so. For now, guess l will use some puppy pads underneath to keep any droppings that might go outside. 🙀😹😹😹 l still love this thing as it has saved me so much time fooling with scooping stinky poo. Hey, Popur…can you provide a solution for cat bottoms hanging out of the box??? 😹 🫶 😽

Works great
This has really helped my back! No more scooping daily! My cats transitioned well with it. I would suggest spraying some waterproofing on the liner. It will sometimes leak if not.

Sometimes works, never tracks cats usage
I bought this in April of last year, and after using it for less than a year, I honestly have a lot of complaints, but I'll start with the good and get into the *ahem* crappy. I do like that the dump box is fairly large, and the box itself is open enough my cats aren't scared to use it. I foster cats, so I have between 4-7 cats at a given time and change the bag about every 2-3 days. It also seems very safe for my cats. It was fairly easy to assemble, although it is very heavy. I liked that it would weigh my cats and track them, and it was one of the main reasons I purchased this box, but it has never done that. Never, not once, has the app updated with information about any of my cats using the litter box, their weight changes, or anything else. Until yesterday, it also never notified me when the dump box was full. When I got the notification yesterday I was pleasantly surprised, but frankly it's too little too late at this point. The first cardboard box they gave me somehow absorbed a bunch of moisture THROUGH THE BAG and got all warped, causing the litter box to dump literal crap all over my floor. It periodically decides that the dump box is full when it isn't and stops scooping itself, and then the cats won't use it. And sometimes it stops even when it doesn't say the dump box is full. It doesn't notify me when it's low on litter, and while it's not obnoxiously loud, it's definitely not quiet. Finally, while it's less stinky than a standard open litter box, this is definitely not odor-free. All in all, the best I can say about this litter box is that it replaced two smaller ones, it isn't going to hurt my cats, and I don't have to scoop for an extra day or two on the days when it functions correctly, and when it doesn't function like it's supposed to, it's nice to be able to push a button to clean the litterbox. If I could go back in time though, I would put my money towards a catlink or a litter robot no questions asked.
