Dragon Quest Illustrations: 30th Anniversary Edition

This is a must have for any dragon quest fan who wants to see the designs for monsters and characters throughout the franchise's lifespan. The art in it is wonderful, and you can see the improvement as the years went on. There is even a few sections dedicated to spinoff titles like Rocket Slime or DQMJ. However, if you are looking for a 'making of' book, this might not be what you have in mind. There is little written information throughout the book, but most of it is at the very end when it gives an overview of the history of the DQ series. Since this book was published prior to DQ11, there is no content regarding that game. I highly recommend if you just want to see some of your favorite designs from the beginning to present in one place.

I love Akira Toriyama’s designs and my favorite media things are from him (Chrono Trigger, Dragin Ball, Dragon Quest, etc.) and I bought this collection in memory of his passing. Book and page quality are top notch but there are mainly 3 reasons why I didn’t give it 5 stars: 1. Size - I was expecting it to be a larger book, in the likes of Dark Horse type of art books. Probably my fault as I didn’t check the dimensions. 2. These are only character illustrations - no gear, towns, items at all. 3. This last one was heavier than the others - even though the Hero from DQ XI is on the cover there aren't any illustrations from the game, which happens to be my favorite in the series. That was a real bummer. Overall, I’m happy I bought it but was a bit disappointed by the above.

My boyfriend really loved this as his valentines day gift! He loves Dragon Quest, he was more happier than he thought he would be with it! :) Definitely worth it guys!

I wanted this book for a while since I heard about the death of Akira Toriyama. He did the character designs and designs the monsters as well for the Dragon Quest games since 1986. This is one of his side projects he did between working the Dragon Ball manga series and his other manga series after DB. I played some Dragon Quest games but I alway like the artwork more and gladly I own a copy. Plus I bought the Dragon Quest 8 game that following weekend as well. Everyone JRPG or Manga fans should this book.

If you are someone who loves & grew up with Akira Toriyama's art-style, this is a must have artbook. It includes artwork from DQ1-10 (no artwork from 11) and this also has art from DQ spin-off games (DQ Monsters series, Rocket slime series etc..) Bought it from Cocoblu Retail, i had to get a replacement for better product. The first time I received the book, it had a tear on the spine and damaged spine bottom with some dents on top and corners as shown in the first 2 images. The book itself wasn't bubble wrapped but the delivery package had a bubble wrap inside. After ordering a replacement at no extra costs, finally got it in good condition as shown in the last 4 images. Still had some dust over it but it is in better condition than the last one, so no complains for the price I got it for (1,800rs which is normally around 2,200rs on different websites).

Premetto che ahimè ho dovuto rendere il prodotto un paio di volte perché mi arrivava rovinato. Stavolta per fortuna è andata bene e parliamo di un volume curatissimo e dai contenuti davvero interessanti. Di Toriyama e di Dragon Quest penso sia inutile parlare più di tanto, mentre il volume (soprattutto se preso scontato) vale davvero la pena di essere acquistato. Ricorda come qualità quello relativo a Dragon Ball, fatta eccezione per il cofanetto, che in questo caso è assente. Bello! ^^

O livro tem lindas ilustrações e esboços do Mestre Akira Toriyama, pra quem curte o traço dele é um otimo item pra coleção.
