CRC Throttle Body & Air Intake Cleaner 05678 – 5 WT OZ, Cleaner for All Fuel Injected Gasoline Engines

I used this CRC Throttle Body & Air Intake Cleaner 05678 to clean the throttle body on my 2019 Toyota Tacoma. Other CRC products I have used have all worked great, and this one was really good as well. It dissolved all the residue making the job simple and straightforward. I had just over 53K miles on my truck when I did this, and while it wasn't terribly dirty I would think a little more frequent cleaning is warranted. Some other reviews I read seem to complain about the size of the can (5 oz.), I think those are rather baseless as it is clearly advertised as such. Even so, for the DIY person who is not running a shop, even 5 oz. will last for a very long time and for many cleanings. While buying in a larger size might be somewhat cheaper per ounce, you will be paying for a lot of material that may just get tossed at some point due to how old it has become. In addition, the smaller can is much easier to maneuver in the tight spaces in many modern engine bays. I will definitely purchase this again (in a few years).

This stuff is like acetone, but safe for use in the air ducts of your car. Ironically, I used this to clean my throttle plate and didn't reconnect the hose correctly. It came loose and my car died. All the lights lit up and the engine cut off. Luckily I was at a red light when it happened, I limped to the side of the road, called triple A, assumed my car was done, then looked under the hood and realized my mistake.Doing things yourself is great but if you don't know what you are doing, leave it to a professional. Cleaning the throttle body costs 50-100 bucks at a mechanic so the lure of doing it yourself with this can and a clean rag is there, but if your throttle body is really deep and back in the engine bay, and getting to involves making all the muscles in your body sore for a couple days, change are its worth having your mechanic do it and reconnect everything properly. Just a heads up to put things back as they were after cleaning. Nothing again this product, as my 5 star review still stands, but I learned to let the mechanic handle this particular car maintenance tip. I will stick to change air filters and washing my car myself. Everything else, the mechanics can do.

Don't buy these 5oz cans. Misleading pictures, these are the mini cans of CRC not the 12oz cans. Seller has some type of clause that you can not return them. Pure rip-off of Amazon customers. Buyer beware please. Not satisfied.
