Precision A-105 - Lumatrol Button Type Photo Control - Fixed Position Mounting - 120 Volt

Like other consumers of replacement dusk to dawn lighting control switches - it's been an ever descending journey of quality over the past several years, seemingly regardless of the brand or price.I've also discovered that several of the more readily available units appear to come from the same manufacturer in China with differences in how they are labeled only, and with a wider range (if specified) of applications as in the objective of one generic fits increasing variety of applications with no apparent concern for duty cycle / longevity.I was in pursuit of a quality replacement switch for my Cooper Sodium 35W light fixture that wasn't even 1 yr in service yet. I'm really pleased with Cooper overall with the exception of these dusk to dawn switches used in the past 3-4 yrs. My switch gradually got worse (later turning off, earlier on) over about 4 months until to the point of failing completely to turn off in bright summer sun in Texas.After searching the internet far too long for a commercial grade unit I came across Precision / Lumatrol brand electrical components. After referencing the correct model for my application from Precisions's website, I was very pleased to find the one I needed available on Amazon.Unit arrived on time with prompt notifications of processing and shipping from CorsLighting.Nice unit in appearance out of the box with all the markings of switches of yesterday. Also copper wires instead of quick to oxidize typical of late China aluminum alloy/clad wires, even had easy to reference, well written instructions. Simply amazing find and painless purchase after a long search for a quality part.Stay tuned for in-service durability / performance followup.Update May, 2015 Well, unfortunately it's probably time to replace. Unit is coming on too early and turning off late. Even turns on with heavy overcast periods. It's still better than others that stop switching without warning.Unit facing South, receiving a lot of sun, but regardless, 22 months is a too short a life cycle to experience the deterioration.

I used to use those photocells that you can screw into the socket.I am using LED lights on a post and those photocells sort of worked.Eventually I decided to put the Precision A-105 into the foot of the lightfixture on the post and use that to control when the lights come on or go off.Wow, was I in for a shock. The lights were a lot brighter and it controls the lights really nicely.It doesn't respond to the headlights of the cars driving by. It needs at least 15 minutes of light before it will switch the lights off.(or 15 minutes of no light to switch on)

not as pictured, wires come out of the back not the side as pictured. not happy that i had to 'modify' to pull the wires out of the side so it would fit in my fixture. item recieved was identical to what i could have bought at the local home center/hardware store black instead of gray. measures 1&1/8 x 2&1/16 x 7/8 & the 'neck' (threaded part) is just over 1 inch. this thing is HUGE, why can't these be smaller??? why is the neck so long most cases only going through sheet metal.

Installed it in an outdoor lamp post about 3 weeks ago.Working fine so far. Small package makes it easy toinstall. Upon power up it will be on for a minute or two.After that, there is a definite time delay before it will comeon in the dark, but it will work.

purchased this for a replacement for a wall mount out light. I looked at the on line picture and it looked like a match to the bad one I had. It is my fault that I didn't read the exact size of it. It is twice the size of the original so I was not able to install it into the light. Return shipping was too costly so i just ate the original price and took the loss. I have no idea how well it works since it never got installed.

It's working as expected, however it has a 20-30secs delay between triggering the sensor and the expected action.

Purchased this as a replacement for an outdoor 3 light pole lamp in our front yard. Original photo control lasted 8-10 yrs but it appears water got in and froze over this past winter. Very easy installation. Item is just as pictured. This was an identical replacement, yet different brand from OEM. Let's hope this one makes it at least as long as the original.

I had to replace two driveway light poles and lamps and this photo control is so much smaller and less obtrusive than the ones that I used on the poles I replaced. Only the lens shows now as opposed to the entire apparatus being mounted on the outside of the replaced poles. I'm very satisfied the product and the delivery.
