These things are pretty neat! I had reservations about them and I just started using them but so far, so good. I started with 2 plants and am anxious to try some more. I think these will help to solve a huge problem watering plants when Im away. Again I'm just now trying them but I used them for both inside and outside plants. I covered the water holding container so the water didn't evaporate. Also I like that I'm able to use the same water holding container to water several pots.... The following is a revision to my original post: I now have more experience with these watering units. I have found that the included instructions are important regarding the location of the water holding container relative to the plant being watered. The instructions that come with the devices clearly demonstrate how to place the water container. I have discovered this with my plants. If you place the water container above the plant, more water will be distributed to the plant. Lower the container to the same level or even below the plant lowers the water distribution. I placed the container above the plant and it was over watered. I am presently trying to put the container lower than the plant. Obviously the size of the pot and type of plant will help to decide the placement. This system definately waters the plants and just needs some experience to make it work correctly, just as the directions state. I remain happy with this purchase.

It takes a bit to set up but kept my house plants alive while away for 4 weeks. I was worried about my plants that need a lot of water verses those that need a little. I put my plants at different heights to receive enough but not too much water. They survived!

In preparation for an upcoming trip, I bought these and have tested them on 2 plants so far. Following the instructions, I was able to get both of them hooked up correctly and they have been consistently pulling water out of Gatorade bottles ever since. I did melt a small hole in the bottle cap and made a slit from one side (in order to be able to twist it enough to slide the tubing through and into the center hole) in order to be able to have the bottle closed to avoid evaporation. This might come in handy also if you were using these outdoors, to avoid the risk of having mosquitoes lay eggs in the water. I will install the others in advance of the trip in order to ensure they are working. It is true that getting it set up can be tricky, especially making sure that the tube is completely full of water as you hook it to the device but I was able to do it on the first attempt for both plants. Once you have it hooked up properly you should not have to redo that process unless you let the water in the bottle run out and get air in the tube. Definitely more than one for a 10" pot but I'm really impressed at how they work!

I love these for watering my plants. They work great until they don't. You have to keep a close eye on the water consumption. For whatever reason, It just stops working and you have to re-soak or blow through the line.

These are working great for outdoor plants in pots. So no to worries when we are on vacation. The company was quick to respond when one item in the order did not work and sent the cute mushroom replacement . 😀

You should be careful, as you can, actually, over water plants with these while you are gone. We set it up to water a cactus, but, it was getting way too much water.

My plants survived for 2 weeks! Set them up at least a week or so before your vacation, monitor, and adjust as needed.
