Best book to understand levels
After searching the English speaking world for a book that would clearly describe the attributes of the various levels of reading difficulty, I found this gem of a book. Many other books with similar descriptions are just lists of published books grouped by levels. Some similar books give very vague descriptions of the specific differences between levels. This book gives clear and specific descriptions according to various categories, with photographs of pages from at least two books from each level. I have found this book invaluable for creating my own leveled readers. It would certainly be a most useful book for deciding how to level existing books. No other similar book provides this level of information.Edith Best, EdD, author of Vaikuntha Children

Helpful information for leveling children's books
This rating is based on the comments made by the person I bought and sent this book to. It is proving helpful to a new teacher who is spending the summer leveling children's books for her in-class library. The information in the book makes for a more efficient and timely task to be accomplished.

This is a book with other books listed inside. There is a good explanation of each book and ideas on how to use the reading book with children to help them learn. However, not a single title in this book have I heard of before. Not only that, there are no classics on the list and most of the books seem rather silly choices. I have a M.Ed. in Special Ed and was hoping for a book that would help me choose reading books for my students. This leveled book list could do that, but the choices are certainly not ones I would want to use.
